Oil slick spotted off Cape Breton coast

Environment Canada is trying to find out who caused an oil slick in the Atlantic Ocean off Cape Breton.

The slick is about 12 kilometres long and has been spotted about 90 kilometres southeast of Cape Breton.

The spill could be a threat to sea birds that feed in the area.

A Canadian Forces patrol plane discovered the oil spill on Tuesday. It has flown over the slick to take photographs which could be used as evidence if charges are laid.
