Big Frank Worthington's official Brummie thread

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Unofficial Newcastle United Football Club BBS : One Thread

Hopefully, I won't be contributing (much) to this thread tonight. I'm going to take a long lunch break today in search of a bar showing the game. Either that, or that Polish woman they keep taking about. Well, I'm pretty sure they said she was a Pole Dancer. Of course, I could be wrong!

Wotcha, pet. Quick vortual bottle of dog?

-- Anonymous, November 29, 2000

The sweat pouring from my brow is a result of flu rather than pre- match nerves. Am I right in thinking that with both clubs being in different halfs of the draw a Tyne-Wear Final is a possibility..? Now that would be something.

-- Anonymous, November 29, 2000

Aye - a vortual Dog'd be smashin' pet - but not too many, aah'm still at work lyuk. But not fer lang..........

-- Anonymous, November 29, 2000

Yep - The Mags and Makems descending on Cardiff is a distinct possibility, Stevo. I think this is actually quite a massive game for us today. Also, think we'll get stuffed. Screach, here's yer dog plus a packet of prok scratchings.

Why - what's Shearer done? Screach - where are you getting commentary?

-- Anonymous, November 29, 2000

Bollox. We're now gonna go and get stuffed or beaten 2-1, our traditional margin. BOLLOX! Why can't we f....g concentrate? Liverpool are 3 up at Stoke.

-- Anonymous, November 29, 2000

It's not as if we shouldn't have expected an Adebola header. T0$$er$.

-- Anonymous, November 29, 2000

Oh well, at least West Ham are getting beaten, too.

-- Anonymous, November 29, 2000

Nee idea what Shearer's done - but he shouldn't be playing.

-- Anonymous, November 29, 2000

Sounds a cracker at Craven Cottage. West Ham still getting beaten..

-- Anonymous, November 29, 2000

Aaaaah bollox. It's only the Worthless anyway.

-- Anonymous, November 29, 2000

thanks you! i was going to say - technically it isn't yet my birthday there but as it's the 30th here, i think i'm in a position to insist on a win...;) Unfortunately, it also means its St. Andrews Day.

-- Anonymous, November 29, 2000

Hiya Peeps!!!!

Taking full advantage of one of the few televised matches this year!!! Oh boy are we looking shakey in defence! (:o|

-- Anonymous, November 29, 2000

Happy birthday min. You can celebrate a proper one tomorrow in UK, then I'll celebrate another 6 hours later here in USA.

-- Anonymous, November 29, 2000

Oh, I hope we do win: what a birthday celeb for you! What else are you doing to celebrate?

-- Anonymous, November 29, 2000

Not a bad game at all. Birmingham have played the slightly better football mainly cos they want it more. Were neat but as usual creating chances few and far between. We never really play too well against an enthusiastic team, beating us to the ball more often than not.

Dyers goal was fairly good. Barton thumped it from the left side of the box, it rebounded off a defender to Dyer who was standing at the edge of the box. He didnt hit it very cleanly but it whizzed into the net after a bounce or 2. Still a good shot though.

Weve really struggled with the size of them espec Adebole who looks HUGE alongside Goma and weve struggled a bit with their long balls and decent crosses. Goma is playing well though. Barton contributing better than Domi does. Hughes+Harper made a few great stops. They scored from a corner- Shearer was marking Adebole but just didnt even nearly get up with him, header, goal- Al may have been tugged at a bit.

Lee+Speed not really controlling midfield. Bassedas unfortunately anonymous- looks very neat but isnt a left sided player and hasnt caught up with the pace of our game. Dyer staying well making good runs but too often offside.

We need to get stuck in. Domi needs to come on for Bassedas and id take Solano off, Dyer on the right +Cordone on. I think Acuna wud be more useful than either Speed +Lee- who knows.........

-- Anonymous, November 29, 2000

And a Big Happy Birthday to Min too!!!(:o)

-- Anonymous, November 29, 2000

awww......thanks!

Well, it's my 30th so i'm taking myself off into the wild blue yonder that is rural NZ - take in the mountains, lakes, forests and beaches. then i'm off to see afew mates in Wellington this weekend to celebrate in beer....

-- Anonymous, November 29, 2000

G'mornin all. And many happy returns min.

-- Anonymous, November 29, 2000

cheers spud - top report. Not good to hear that they 'want it more' though. When will we learn??

-- Anonymous, November 29, 2000

IF that is a better contribution down the left than Domi - help us

Bassedas off the pace entirley. Domi on second half me thinks.

Unable to keep the ball at all.

IMO lucky to be on level terms at half time.

Good game or not - Brum the more dangerous by a mile

-- Anonymous, November 29, 2000

Goodbye cruel world. Well, until I've had a calming fag.

-- Anonymous, November 29, 2000

I think you right there Pete - this game is going to turn into a real scrap for us! (:o)

-- Anonymous, November 29, 2000

Couple of questions for those of you with vision - is Bobby Lee playing midfield or in a back 3 ? And how's Andy Griffin going ? And has the 2nd half started yet ?

-- Anonymous, November 29, 2000

Is there anybody out there? Just knock if you can hear me............

-- Anonymous, November 29, 2000

May seem were not keeping the ball but possession was 61-39 to us ;-)

-- Anonymous, November 29, 2000

-- Anonymous, November 29, 2000

-- Anonymous, November 29, 2000

>>Loony >>if you listen carefully, you can hear them munching.....

They must've forgotten to peel the prawns first. Serve the posh barstewards right !

So what's happening in the match anyone ?

-- Anonymous, November 29, 2000

doesn't sound good - you got the webcast? They seem to have the lion's share of possession and chances so far this half. we just aren't working as a cohesive unit. How many times have we heard that this season?

-- Anonymous, November 29, 2000

Lama - you watching on Foxsports or something ? I'm REALLY chuffed that I got up at 6 am. and walked 40 minutes down to the Star City Casino on the off chance they were screening the game. They weren't, which made me about as sad as those punters on the tables I reckon

:7(

-- Anonymous, November 29, 2000

I think ill fall off my chair if we create a chance. Why cant we cross and boot upfield as effectively as they can?

-- Anonymous, November 29, 2000

Adebola off [injured], Burchill on...

-- Anonymous, November 29, 2000

NEWCASTLE, NEWCASTLE, NEWCASTLE....

Nah Loony England V Pakistan (Highlights) on Fox. All I have is the webcast.

-- Anonymous, November 29, 2000

I can't believe we're just not up for this. Our best chance of silverware and they're just chucking it away with no fight....

SHAMBLES!

-- Anonymous, November 29, 2000

I think were tired after Sundays scrap. Amazed he hasnt put Domi on for a run at left wing.

-- Anonymous, November 29, 2000

We've got so many injuries etc that I'm not sure we aren't just playing cagey....

-- Anonymous, November 29, 2000

FFS - this "sounds" bliddy awful. If we're not up for it, why send a top team? The bairns would have been more interested. Bah!

-- Anonymous, November 29, 2000

does this go extra time then penalties, or a replay if it stays 1-1 at FT ?

-- Anonymous, November 29, 2000

ET then pens.

-- Anonymous, November 29, 2000

Cordone looks great on the ball- pity he rarely picks out the right pass and runs like a poof.

-- Anonymous, November 29, 2000

Agreed. It does "sound' awful. It's the sheer indifference and feelings of 'can't be arsed' that are coming through the radio that is so frustrating. even under TSM, that was a criticism you could only level at certain players. It's like they're assuming that their superior PL fitness will win the day. scary.

GGGRRRR. I'm angry now. Don't make me angry. You wouldn't like me when i'm angry......

-- Anonymous, November 29, 2000

Hello there. Who's left on the bench then?

-- Anonymous, November 29, 2000

pens....which we are so good on. Thing is, we have been talking about getting into europe on this ticket so I can't believe it's a lack of motivation. We need an England break for some rest. Clogging way against Villa on Saturday will knacker us more. Liverpool are 6 up though...so Sunday's slog obviously din't affect them so badly.

-- Anonymous, November 29, 2000

Do u turn green when ur trying to put on a spare wheel?

-- Anonymous, November 29, 2000

Liverpool now 8-0.

-- Anonymous, November 29, 2000

Cordone actually looks a good sub- played well at West Ham when came on as sub.

-- Anonymous, November 29, 2000

Wish we'd played Stoke. SHIT that was close!

-- Anonymous, November 29, 2000

Bollocks!

-- Anonymous, November 29, 2000

Do I gather the ref has collapsed in a heap?

-- Anonymous, November 29, 2000

.....or have we gone 1-0 down perchance??

-- Anonymous, November 29, 2000

What has happened for Christ's sake?

-- Anonymous, November 29, 2000

2-1 with about 10 seconds to go. Ever get the feeling you've been cheated?

-- Anonymous, November 29, 2000

.....or have we even gone 2-1 down perchance??

2-1 to Birmingham. Johnson. Final Whistle. Bollocks.

Jesus H Christ - why do we have to be the PL team to get beaten by the no hopers?

-- Anonymous, November 29, 2000

Not really. It's apparently what our performance has warranted.

-- Anonymous, November 29, 2000

Lost 2-1.

I'm FURIOUS! Another birthday ruined.

-- Anonymous, November 29, 2000

Donkey's heads on again gang.

I don't know about you, but I've had about as much as I can take of this spineless, clueless lot.

BTW: thank you Steve Harper for preventing an even bigger humiliation.

Goodnight, possibly goodbye.

-- Anonymous, November 29, 2000

It looks like Derby and West Ham both got beaten by lower division sides, too. Europe next year? Having a laugh, mate.

-- Anonymous, November 29, 2000

That familiar feeling again. Well it's a worthless piece of tin as far as I'm concerned. I just pray the Mackems don't win it.

-- Anonymous, November 29, 2000

CLARKY: COME BACK! We need your analysis.

-- Anonymous, November 29, 2000

Exactly Dougal.

They complaining on the webcast that they should've had their keeper sent off - that's just sour grapes.

You don't perform, you don't win. How many times, how many players and how much money will we spend before we get people who understand that - simple as it is?

F^$%^£$RS!

-- Anonymous, November 29, 2000

aw come on min admit it, you just KNEW those useless b@st&rds would ruin it. As they will next year ... and the year after ... and the year after that ...

Mackems - Liverpool - Birmingham feckin City. "All aboard the NUFC rollercoaster. Hurry along now or you'll be left behind"

-- Anonymous, November 29, 2000

Doesn't it make you feel good about the team that we are in the company of the Derby's and West Ham's of the league. At least I didn't go down the pub and pay for the privilege of watching this crap.

-- Anonymous, November 29, 2000

We will never win anything. Dicuss.

Ah well, we'd only have lost on penalties anyway. Any good reason why the ref didn't send of their keeper, apart from (to quote Ormondroyd) "bottle"? Is Mr Bennett in fact Ian's dad?

There must be a way of docking the players' wages for results like this.

bollocks

-- Anonymous, November 29, 2000

well...many happy returns to min, unfortunately you have a bad present on your birthday...and now I'm off to die!

-- Anonymous, November 29, 2000

Was it spinelessness or was it tiredness? Makes you feel a tit for going to the earlier games at SJP though.

-- Anonymous, November 29, 2000

the closest we'll get to Europe is going to see them at the TeleWest Arena....

-- Anonymous, November 29, 2000

I'm off to the bottle shop. Better luck on the weekend, eh?

-- Anonymous, November 29, 2000

Howay man Clarky, you know you can't walk away for long. That's the nature of an addiction. Even when it fecks up the rest of your life you still come back for more and convince yourself that it'll be alright.

NUFC. WORSE THAN HEROIN.

-- Anonymous, November 29, 2000

Well - why don`t I feel surprised! Watching it tonight, I never felt as though we were going to win. Oh well, can`t say we`re not used to this sort of thing.

I`ll be missing the next two matchday threads - but I`ll be thinking of you guys and gals! See ya`s later! (:o|

-- Anonymous, November 29, 2000

That was the most half hearted load of shite I have seen since the debacle against SOTON on TV last year.

Make no mistake about it Birmingham deserved the win and we were shite. And appeared not to give a shite

I can here the laughs from Mackem land all the way down to Margate beach

NOT ONE CHANCE CREATED IN THE ENTIRE SECOND HALF SAVE A HALF HEARTED ATTEMPT BY SHEARER AT ROUNDING THE KEEPER.

No left side at all

Warren Barton NEVER passed the ball to a B&W shirt. Not once.

There was absolutely nothing that was positive about that dross - no one showed any ability to hold the ball, create space, move or go passed players from a lower league.

This is my team and my club being shown nationwide. Once again I shall go into work and meet sneers and bloody laughter.

Make no mistake. We were not robbed. We created NAFF all and the goal was on its way.

I am bloody mad and sickened by ineptitude.

Newcastle United need an OFSTED inspection from the directors to the tea ladies.

Bunch of crap.
