More vote allegations filed by GOP MILWAUKEE, Nov. 28 – State Republicans filed a fraud incident report with the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s office Tuesday alleging 76 new instances of voter irregularities during the Nov. 7 election.

DISTRICT ATTORNEY Michael McCann said Tuesday evening that his office would look into the report – just as it has been investigating earlier reports that many Marquette University students voted more than once. So far, a close check of 270 Marquette student voters failed to find a single instance of anyone voting twice, he said. “We have not encountered a single double vote yet,” McCann said. “In addition, while we have received e-mails, letters and calls saying there was double voting of students, no one has named a single student doing it.” “Any student who double voted, let us know anonymously – ideally also the precinct where the vote was cast,” he said. The latest allegations include voters being given food stamps in exchange for votes, blatant campaigning inside polling places and felons, children and non-citizens voting. At the Marquette student union, a poll worker allegedly yelled, “You are an idiot to vote for Bush” and there were Democratic campaign signs within 100 feet of the polling place, the report said. Republicans initially provided McCann with a list of 22 reports of voting irregularities. In both cases, the complaints were compiled from witnesses’ accounts called in to the party, said Rick Graber, chairman of the state Republican Party. On Monday, a Milwaukee resident and his neighbor reported finding 19 completed presidential ballots scattered in their yards. Officials said Tuesday that the ballots apparently fell from a vehicle while being transported. McCann’s office was investigating.

The week after the election, the Marquette student newspaper reported finding 174 students who claimed to have voted two or more times. One Marquette student, 18-year-old Rob Bosworth, told ABC News he voted for himself four times, but he later recanted and said he voted once. McCann said his investigation has indicated Bosworth did not vote twice. He said his office is still investigating the case of a Democratic activist from New York offering homeless people in Milwaukee cigarettes if they would obtain absentee ballots and vote. McCann said his investigators haven’t been able to find and question two people who were aiding the activist at the time. Graber said it would be up to McCann and the Legislature to decide if there was criminal conduct. “This is not a partisan issue. It is the core of our democracy,” he said. Graber said Republican politicians would likely present proposals for voting reform during the state Legislature’s next session, including creating a centralized voter registration list and hiring and training more poll workers. The city Election Commission did not immediately return a message from The Associated Press seeking comment on the new allegations of irregularities.
