Mechanical glitch gives some Albertans energy bonus

Some people in Alberta are getting their
energy bonus a little early.

As a way to offset skyrocketing energy prices,
the Alberta government promised energy rebate
cheques to people across the province.

Albertans were supposed get one cheque for $150
in November, another in April.

But a mechanical glitch at Revenue Canada has
resulted in some people getting more than one
cheque this month.

Revenue Canada says it believes about 100 people
have received the bonus cheque and it's asking
them to send it back. If they don't, the agency
says, those people just won't get their second
cheque next spring.
