Worst premiership ever?

I think so. Man U have it in bag already. The cloggers (Sunderland, Leicester, Spurs, Villa and Everton) are doing OK and a team that has already lost 6 matches could feasibly get into the Champions' League. Outcome? People to get bored. Hooliganism comes back on grand scale. Sky pulls out of football. Loads of clubs go bankrupt and disappear. Only thing left of English football is Man United who play exhibition games in a World All Star Soccer League. Just picking up on general despondency, like :-))

Ah, back to the pessimistic Dougal of last season - knew the positivity couldn't last!

Oooh - floods!

It's not over yet. Newton Heath are only 8 points ahead. I believe it is possible to lose a title with a 12 point lead:-((

Its possible with a 13 point leed ask Manu or Arsenal fans :-))

Manure are going through a great patch and the rest are indifferent and the gap is only 8 points. It's not over by a long way yet, it's not even December.

I think the teams outside the top 4-5 have got significantly worse though.

It will probably make things far more interesting in the spring with alot of teams battling for European spots. Even if the title and relegatiion spots are already decided. ;-))

Definitely the worst PL ever - in fact in the entire history of the miserable rotten Universe.

Farewell, cruel world .................

Difficult.

Is a good Premiership one where there are many teams of equal standing, or one where two teams battle it out, or one where on team dominates ?

In horse racing a horse winning the Derby by 10 lengths (Shergar) is viewed as superlative. A horse winning the Derby by a neck from tow others close up means it is probably a weak year.

Man U are special at the moment (1 moment = 8 years). In that period only Blackburn, Newcastle and Arsenal have challenged their title aspirations. This year no one is up to it. Part of the reason is the stupid Champions League format which no longer only penalises the very top club from the previous season, and act as a restriction on their ability to retain the title. Now Leeds (say) who would be expected to improve as they age are just getting swamped with games and therfore injuries.

Agree though. We are 8th and are hopeless compared to 96/97. Three points covering half a dozen clubs is pretty bad too.
