non-geordie toon supporters

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Unofficial Newcastle United Football Club BBS : One Thread

Its a bit slow here today at work so I thought I'd see what you guys think of non-geordies supporting your club. I was born in Newcastle Australia and I am a very passionate supporter of Newcastle United. I have never been to St James Park but it is my life long dream. I am just curious what you think about it. Do you welcome outside support ?

Welcome aboard Mark, of course you are welcome here. I truly hope you do get to St. James' Park someday. I, like many others on this BBS, am a Geordie, but living many thousands of miles from home. This is one of the ways I keep in touch with home. We also have many "non- geordies" as you politely put it. I am sure you will meet many friends here. Stick around, it's a great deal of fun once you get to "know" everyone.

Thanks Pete

Hundred thousand welcomes Mark, I just hope at times we can bring the dream to you, especially on match days,

**Why is it, but I gotta gut feeling that LR will use this thread in future debates!!, LR a suitable case for conversion, mebbes aye, mebbes nay,

LR loves us. The Toon is his second side. Without a doubt. Welcome aboard, Lama: anyone who loves the black and white is welcome here.

Some people here with short memories. Where have you been lately Lama?

Not heard from you for a while!

You can honestly say you were born in Newcastle and you support your local team, Newcastle United.

What more could one ask?

I do 'tune in' to the webcast in the early hours of the morning over here. And the match day thread on here is an essential companion to that !!. I do have pay TV for the matches that are televised.

Thanks all for you kind words of welcome. It was an issue that was nagging me and I just had to find out what you thought.

Hi gus

I have been doing the public servant thing here in Canberra. I have only been here about 12 months and I am sick of the place.

Howzitgoing lama ? When are you next up Sydney way to watch one of the games or just have a VB with us ?

As to your query, my experience is that NUFC probably has a greater proportion than most clubs of locally-born & raised supporters, but there's still a sizeable minority from other places (who have voluntarily taken leave of their senses and decided to follow the lads) :O))

No nothing as yet, 2 trips planned. 1 for work, the other to take the gusette to some theme parks in Brisbane as a reward for doing well at school, that depends on if she does of course.

The work thing is out of my hands timing wise.

send us an e-mail or something when you find out.

Ah B*ll*cks Sting,

I came over here to escape the like o' you!! Suppose I'll have to go to the Pub then when you arrive, and you know I hate goin' out.

Keep us in the loop for the Toon Asia Pacific Sydney grand neet oot...Curry mebeez? Screach, fancy comin' along?

-- Anonymous, November 28, 2000

TM - divven't invite him man - he'll take you up on the offer - and he'll only lower the tone....

; o )

-- Anonymous, November 28, 2000

SSHH!

If Mrs gus thinks if off enjoying meself she will want to come as well!

By the way TM, I don't drink and hate eating foreign muck. Loony had to find some grannies kitchen for us to eat in when we caught up in Sydney last.

-- Anonymous, November 28, 2000

Cups of tea all round Gus!! Make mine a large one, err, a mug that is. Well if you don't eat foreign muck Gus, just have to be meat pie's then, now where do we find hot meat pie's for sale???? min, Screach'll never get out here man, they haven't got a travel lodge with ragged hedge out the front and strimmer for hire. The Phal's aren't up to much either. Mind you, Granty could sniff out THE MOST expensive curry hoose in sydney though, no doubt there ;-))

Actually we are in Oz mode now so you are now mino, and we have loono, Guso and Granto, when he arrives that is, can't have either Screach as he'd sound italian no Jonno as that's just too bloody confusing. Perhaps the lads and lasses could get up to bar Oz before the game and practice a bit...dougo, softo, stepho mate!

-- Anonymous, November 28, 2000

Hehehe. S'funny you should mention that. I'm working with a few Oz folks right now (well, I'm working, they're watching). Had a couple of invites to see Sydney already. I'm assured he's a nice lad. And I was told there's a great gladdi-trimming club which serves a fabulous curry. Just checkin' the flight details. TM - got any floor space in your kitchen??? Stranger things.................

-- Anonymous, November 28, 2000

well the pad is about the same size Screach, in fact smaller. Sure we could find suitable dinning facilities for you....

-- Anonymous, November 28, 2000

that's me in the 'dunny' then! TM - i don't mind an expensive curry house as long as they chuck in a bottle of champers gratis again - Sting, get on the case. Maybe this time we'll get the bottle off Susie...;)
