Avi file export back to MiniDV tape, only limit to 2GB

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Video CD : One Thread

I have completed a movie file in avi format using Premiere. I export the file back to MiniDV tape using Pinnacle DV tools. Its works, but only able to print 2GB of the file to the tape, after which, the whole printing to tape process will be terminated. Can anyone help me by letting me know why, is there anything to do which some settings? If so, what is the correct setting which enable me to export a larger file size back to the tape. Thanks in advance!

Unfortunately you have fallen for the 2G limit problem that most us are or were faced with in Premiere 5. Premiere 6 will maybe give you 4G's when it finally comes on the market (W95 & W98).

Until that happens when hopefully (I say hopefully as old projects could not be used between 4 & 5) you can use the same project. In the meantime your choices are limited and you are faced with joining or doing as I did when in analogue some years ago, use the Russian program ddclip to play the 2G clips in sequence from their timeline direct to tape.

Most of us have been forced to Uleads Media Studio so as to at least get a 4G limit. It is said Windows 2000 has no limit but I have no experience with it and Premiere 5.1c as I still run W98SE. Its a Bill Gates enforced limit and has nothing to do with premiere.
