Where is the Evidence

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Global Warming : One Thread

A great idea to start this forum, Malcolm, but where is the evidence that the earth is heating up?

Most of the scientific data seems to indicate that after a warm year or two (1997 - 1998) we are now cooling down again. So perhaps you should be calling this forum Global cooling.

Glider Pilot, many thanks for starting things off.

Although not everyone may agree with the theory that the arth is getting warmer, we should at least listen to ALL points of view, and as you say in your heading, we should consider the evidence before reaching any conclusions.

The burning of a couple of hundred million years' accumulation of unique carbon deposits can't help but change our atmosphere. Warmer or colder probably doesn't matter much from that but REAL warmer or colder does. After the next volcanic or meteoric related dieoff our decendants are going to have a pretty tough time putting back a civilization absent easy fuel.

Thanks for yet another bookmark Malcolm. Will watch this one.
