The Sierra Times and their advocates.

Someone please explain to me how these right-wingers aren't racist or anti-semetic when their own propaganda warns black churches and synagogues are being targeted by SOME of their supporters?

Sierra Times

Personally, I'd withdraw support if a group in which I was involved had links to these groups.

Sierra Times is Loony Bin FRINGE which seems to be trying to out do Farah. Both are assholes but both make a lot of noise because somehow they get hold of some money from other FRINGERS to make that noise.

You conveniently forget : The Right is not a giant monolith. Because of first principles, it is almost inevitable that putting 10 right wingers in a room results in 10 new organizations after only a few hours.

But there is a police squad in the Right Wing that blows the whistle on the FRINGERS. It was William Buckley who demolished Buchanan and reduced him to his current status as the butt of jokes. It was the responsible Right that isolated out the Nutburgers of Y2k by exposing them.

Sierra Times and the rest of the FRINGERS like Farah, North, and dozens more are isolated from the vast majority of Conservatives.

said better..........NOBODY TAKES THEIR DRIVEL SERIOUSLY.

And even in the Right, people like Rush Limburger_Cheese are judged issue for issue. When they get too far out of line with reality they are told so.

CONTRAST THAT.....to "Political Correctness" which holds "thou shalt not criticize a fellow member of the Loony Left".

Actually, Charles, quite a few have been cast into outer darkness from the left. Nader is certainly in coventry now, and his mouthings are going to be pretty irrelevant as to policy from this point onwards.

Jane Fonda has pretty much been ostracised, since she made her famous/infamous statment about "the Vietnamese have the right to cleanse themselves of foreign influences", in reference to the Chinese boat people.

I could give others as examples, but those two will do. However, I will admit, on the left they don't get called down so much as ignored.

Of course, I'm neither left nor right, I just try for balance. (You and I seem to be closer together than I and Nader, or you and Limbaugh, for that matter.) And right now, seems to me we have a balance that consists of far left and far right screaming at each other.

Wouldn't it be great if we could just put them all together on an island somewhere, and let them fight it out? Or maybe have steel cage matches?

Paul, I suggested shipping them all out here.....we'll set up a ring in the desert somewhere.....there's LOTS of places to "get lost" out here.

And if we happen to forget they're out there.....

Yes, Charlie, Sierra Times IS a "Loony Bin FRINGE".

But don't be too sure that they and similar are so "...isolated from the vast majority of Conservatives..." or that "...NOBODY TAKES THEIR DRIVEL SERIOUSLY...".

Flush may, indeed, be "scolded", but that doesn't affect his support (either overt or covert) one way or the other.

I, and many like me, distanced ourselves from the terrorist fringe of the left many years ago. I really don't see that happening on the right (one or two notable exceptions aside).

What I do see is an awful lot of lip service and "well, we're not really connected to THEM" going on in the Right. I see an awful lot of "excuses" made for the likes of McVeigh. I see an awful lot of "reasoning" behind actions such as he took.

I see painfully few, IF ANY, actual denouncements.

But what I mostly "see" is something I don't see at all; the voice of the moderates. We are the ones who have been "silenced".

Puhleese.

The Moderates are always crippled by one concern. Does making a statement about some Loony Fringer just "give them more publicity?". Rather what you have to do is simply refer people to someone who has done the hatchet job. A good example was sending people to Buckley's denouncement of Buchanan. Similarly, Southern Poverty Law Center is used by both Political Parties to identify the Weirdos of any stripe. The ADL even "outed" some Jewish extremists.

That was why you seldom saw the Main Line Churches and political moderates address Y2k. They assumed correctly that most people would see through the crazy statements from both sides for what they were: crazy statements.

Where they were wrong was in assuming that people could grasp the fallacies in the "tech arguments" of the Loonies and as we know, that was where the damage in Y2k was done.

Similarly, why give publicity to assholes like Buchanan when he can do such a good job showing people why he is an asshole?

I suppose you've seen that cartoon of the elephant missing a chunk of his hindquarters?

Caption reads "HEY, my Buchanan fell off!".

Did even one of you read the article before spouting off about these nasty right-wing fringe groups? If any of you decide to read the article you would learn that Anita is still farting and calling it intelligent speech.

The writer of the article warns that the PTB i.e. liberals, may commit crimes against their own and attempt to blame the right. Anita, are you capable of intelligent thought or does every single thing you read involve right-wing conspiricies?

Re "...the PTB i.e. liberals...".....

Name some.

-- Anonymous, November 29, 2000

Been a while since I've seen an honest, dyed in the wool, liberal.

Jesse Jackson comes closest of anyone on the national stage, but he has said a lot of not very liberal things over the last 5 or 6 years.

And Nader doesn't even start to pass the liberal test. He's just a nut.

Agreed, Paul, but I was wondering about the "Powers hat Be" part. I wouldn't exactly call either of them "powers" in any sense of the word. More like "somewhat influential in a narrowly-targeted group".

You do, of course, realize that was supposed to read:

Powers That Be

I hate HTML In The Morning.
