Price Fixing Allegations
Allegations of price-fixing have surfaced in Alberta's power industry, where rates have soared in the past year. Two major power companies, Enron Canada, and Powerex Corporation, have been under investigation. The companies say they're innocent, and so far, no wrongdoing has been proven. Alberta Premier Ralph Klein rejects claims by the opposition, that government de-regulation of the power industry, has provided opportunity for price-fixing, but Klein says if investigators find any "bad guys" they should be "prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law."
