in this month's Total Football. He is talking about football going out of fashion and how the pay-per-view fall through should set a few alarm bells ringing throughout the PL. He seems to think that Chelsea are in most danger, as 1) they had poor financials last season despite being in the CL, 2) they have only sold two out the 17 millennium suites at Stamford Bridge and 3) they have a history of going in and out of fashion. However, he mentions Spurs as carrying losses and mentions us, saying that we are carrying significant losses, not helped by the fact that the bottom is falling out of the shirts market ("Even in Newcastle" he says in a tone that I can't say I particularly like but that's by the by). He concludes that it is at their peril that clubs continue concentrating on the "corporate field of dreams". Stating the bleeding obvious, I know, but you can't help wondering what precautions NUFC are making against this coming to pass.

He should start to worry if the bottom falls out of the shorts market as well.

Easy Dougal - they're paying a dividend to 'shareholders' despite incurring a loss of £19 million to demonstrate their confidence in the future!!!
