Well here goes.....let me tell you a nice little story:
There once was a 'young' man called Syme.......
who lived in the wonderful, if windy and cold city of Chicago with his gorgeous lady Barbara.
All of a sudden, on a normal and quiet weekend day, the peace and quiet of the neighbourhood was shattered by the sound of a blaring car horn and low and behold they were infiltrated by a very strange balding man who bore a striking resemblence to one Les Battersby of Coronation Street. (Well he would do if these two unsuspecting people people actually knew who LB was)
Thus the story goes that poor poor Barbara was deserted as these two manic Magpies fled the nest and made haste toward the nearest licenced hostelry which was showing 'The Match pet' as they had explained it to her.

The game sarted and the Magpies went one goal up inside three minutes and the boys were in heaven. However, the horrible nasty Makems who run around looking like a load of barbers pole scored an equaliser. As the game continued, the tension began to get too much to bear.....
What happened next is now history.....the stinking Makems went on to win the game when the world tallest leprechaun headed the ball past the only Irishman who doesn't know where Dublin is (well he didn't at Coventry a couple of years back anyway)
and in typical Makem fashion, even in good old downtown Chicago, they manage to get their ugly mugs in to spoil a good day.
And so the day ended in as much misery on that side of the Atlantic as it did on this side.
