Come in Number 37, your book is crap

Like the gullible fool that I am, I bought Rob Lee's book on the weekend. Read it last night in all of 1.5 hours. It has nothing in it that you haven't read elsewhere (apart from Big Dunc trying to buy Solano a llama for Christmas and a photo of Big Al and his missus dressed up as Abba). General thrust - loved Charlton, had trouble fitting in the North East but gradually came to love it, was Golden Boy until Gullit came along, Gullit didn't like him, Gullit got sacked, Bobby arrived. Happy Ending. Sorry, Rob, pet, but we'll all no doubt part with the thick end of thirty quid for your testimonial so I can't honestly recommend that anyone boost your coffers by buying this book.

And another birthday present spoilt.

I recall he had a column in The Grauniad a while back. Despite momentous goings on at the club, Rob always managed the most anodyne comments and would never stick his neck out.

He's seen some amazing times at the Toon. I'm sure he could do a better job of an autobiog if he was retired and NUFC was no longer his employer.

jon, rob never actually wrote it. He just passed an opinion which was made into something by an irish guy whos name escapes me

Actually the llama story was out before. Probably in the Ronnie. Will still probably buy the book just for the Abba photo. Any speculation on when his testimonial will be? I'd love to go over for it.

In 2002, I think, or possibly in very late 2001 as that'e the start of his testimonial season. I read somewhere that Barca had agreed in principle to be the opponents.

We bought him in September 1992, but I'm sure I heard next July being talked about. Thought testimonials were normally after 10 years (Beardo being the exception).
