What does Er-51 mean on Leica Minilux zoom

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Leica Photography : One Thread

I have a Leica minilux zoom (duh); the shutter clicks multiple times and then Er-51 appears in the display window.

I'm taking the silly thing back to the dealer this afternoon, but in case anyone knows (or if there is) how to reboot the computer chip (I've already removed the battery overnight and replaced it and that doesn't help) thanks very much!

It seems that Er-51 is an error code indicating processor chip malfunction. You may try to take out the battery, then put the battery back in and try again to clear the hung up. Make sure you use a new battery

Update... TIA to all who answered, it's in transit to Leica NJ for warranty repairs, supposedly "4 to 6 weeks." Wonderful.

hey john,

well i hope its the right "john" i am mailing to, i was just sitting in the computer room and wanted to mail my former host family and since i forgot my address book at home i tried to find you guys via internet. i have no idea what Er-51 is, but since your question is not really from new (october 2000) i guess you already found out about it....

well, how are you all doing? i am pretty fine, i am taking advantage of my free scholarship here at indina university (bloomington) it is really very nice here, Bl has about 70,000 inhabitants but more than the half of it are students, that makes it really very interesting. i am already a month here and i really feel at home, i found some new friends (also a nice american guy, Sheaghan, he was actually the first american a got to know here, and i had a date with) he has been to harvard (he is the first person i know who has been to harvard). anyways, i am having a great time. and i already have been to indianapolis, and the lake, and so on and so forth. on september 26th i'll go to indianapolis again to watch the formular 1!!! i cannot wait to get there!

i am at the english department, and i am just know applying for the master's degree department, i am pretty sure that they will accept me, ,since i fulfill all the requierments, and the professor to whom i hand in my writing sample is very nice.

well, hope to hear from you soon. your ex-au-pair, BERNA

Can someone tell me what is error code for minilux E01 mean ? thank you

-- olivier T. Nguyen (onguyen@pica.army.mil), January 17, 2002.

The E01 code is a known issue with Minilux's. It means the shutter must be replaced (around $150 USD). If memory serves me correctly, it has to do with a broken wire attached to a circuit board.

Call your country's importer/distributor and ask about it.

If I can get my wife's Minilux away from her, I'm going to trade it for an M6 before it breaks.
