1958: John Mitten (son of Charlie) made his debut for Newcastle - he was given a penalty to take in his first game and missed (remind you of anyone). Mind you, he went on to score 4 goals in just eleven first team games.

1963: Non Toon related but John F Kennedy was assassinated in Dallas.

1978: Gary Nicholson made his debut for the Toon. Another player who only made eleven appearances. Later went to Leicester and ultimately on to Mansfield.

1996: Darren Huckerby travels to the Midlands to sign for Coventry City.

An interesting point.....over the years, on the 22nd of November we have played 15 matches and in those matches we have scored 21 goals....and have conceeded 21.....curious eh.....

Best result in those games was a 4-0 home win against Birmingham in 1924 and the worst result was losing 5-0 to the stinking barbers poles form doon the road in 1930.....no doubt Jonno and Screacher will remember both matches well.
