I'm all for that. I love to sew and quilt and would love to read about info on sewing.

I agree to a sewing category, too -- or maybe a hand-work category (including knitting, crocheting, embroidery, etc.).

I think it would be good too -- all "fiber arts" things -- sewing, knitting, embroidery/needlework, spinning, weaving, whatever.

Ok..am I the only one that found the unintentional pun "sewing thread" hilarious? ROFL I am all for a handwork section..or needle arts or what have ya. i just learned how to crochet, can knit and purl a tad, and I do a little bit of sewing. I like practical and functioal crafting and they are well suited to a homesteading lifestyle (how lucky!). Would do more if I had the time and better skills.

Alison, I have to admit that the pun escaped me until I read your post, so now I am chuckling, too!! Maybe "Fiber Arts" would be the best title, as that could cover spinning, etc., too.

Right now I am really into Victorian Clothing. I am just completing a capelet. I made it out of a lovely blue wool. I lined it and put a black velvet collar on it. It is truly gorgeoua. I am really excited about this victorian thing, because a while back i started an e-mail list called SewVictorian and recently I had a textile historian join the list. She specializes in Victorian Era clothing. She is catalogueing victorian clothing for Museums. It's so nice to see a crazy idea turn into something worthwhile. The funny part is that I am just a beginner compared to these people, but it is really fun to learn all about this stuff.

Looks like maybe you just started one? Sounds good to me. I saw the pun? intentional or unintentional and got a chuckle. This is my first evening at this forum and I would love to follow a "sewing thread" Diane in Michigan

I agree fiber arts would be a great thread name. I am curious about spinning and weaving too. Hey Steve! Get off the pot, eh and start us up !LOL

A fiber arts thread would be nice. I dont have alot of time to work on it much but this thread has inspired me to pull out the needlework that has sat dormant for quite some time. Maybe I'll finish a project or two this winter! Oh Carol, I haven't forgotten you. I just haven't made it to the post office yet. I'll be in touch.

I vote for fiber art instead of sewing. It will encompass a lot of things and most of us like a variety of them anyway. What ya say, Steve?

The pun wasn't intended until after I posted, then I got it but didn't know if anyone else would notice!!! LOL Fiber Arts sounds good it would cover everything pretty much, but would a newbie know what it meant? So who's in charge of setting this up, do they read our posts?
