Calling any Danish or Dutch Mags!

Do you have any reports to give on this fella?

Bobby Robson is being linked with a move for PSV Eindhoven's Danish international winger Dennis Rommedahl. Newcastle are reported to be one of a number of clubs tracking Rommedahl after his superb performance in Denmark's 2-1 win against Germany last week when he scored both goals. He is also interested in leaving PSV - one of Robson's former clubs - where he is often left on the bench.

a) anyone typing 'Danish or Dutch Mags' into search engine and ending up here is going to be seriously disappointed, aren't they?

b) Is he Tommasson in disguise?

I thought this guy was a left back.

NEWCASTLE UNITED manager Bobby Robson has made an enquiry into the availability of Wimbledon`s Republic of Ireland international defender Kenny Cunningham. Robson`s search for a quality centre back has been well documented, with the likes of Marcelino and Alain Goma missing through injury and a major void being left by the sales of Steve Howey and Laurent Charvet to Manchester City.

Cunnigham`s no-nonsense style of play would add some much-needed steal to the Magpies back-line, but it remains to be seen if The Dons will sell one of their most experienced players, or whether the player can be tempted to leave Selhurst Park.

Rommedahl is LIGHTNING FAST, and I mean lightning. He could use some guidance, but with his speed it could be awesome. He is probably faster than Overmars and Owen.

Cheers for that Vatos. More pace in the side wouldn't go a miss as long as he knows what to do in front of goal. He is called an International Winger by teamtalk but his UEFA profile says he is a forward. Do you know where he plays on the pitch, left wing, right wing, centre forward?

Rommedahl hasn't held down a regular place at PSV so I'm a little in the dark about him. Give me some time to gen up on him and I'll get back to you De Builder.

Cheers Stevo. I'm not sure about the validity of the story but if he's a left winger or a forward it would make some sense and if he's not a regular they may want to sell.

De Builder,

there is a fierce debate on a PSV bbs over selling Rommedahl. Everyone agrees he is lightening fast but it seems he has a case of the Franz Carrs ie he can beats the full-back with a devastating burst of accelatation, but then only to cross into row z. His finishing is described by many as woeful, others claim he doesn't track back enough. His supporters generally don't disagree with the above but make the case that he is still a young player and its too quick to write him off. They generally argue that pace is a rare and valued commodity and if he could only improve on his crossing and finishing he has the potential to grow into a valuable player. "Loan him out to a club where he gets first team football" being a typical comment. Some compare him to a young Marc Overmars. What is striking is the tone of the debate. Those who want shot of him evidently hold Rommedahl in something close to contempt, which intensely annoys the others. All second hand opinion of course but these fans have seen him more than I have so make of it what you will.

He is a typical right winger. Compared to Solano, then he is a foward winger, whereas Solano is a wingback. Ive allways liked Rommedahl, but I have to agree that his crossing and finishing could be better. But then again any players crossing and finishing would be woeful if he sits on the bench all the time.

In the match between Denmark and Germany (We won 2-1 !!!!) he drove the German defence to pieces, they couldnt handle him and he scored both goals. The Germans had to change their right back, and tried to put Christian Ziege on him, but that didnt help either.

But he(Dennis Rhomedal) will not be moving to Newcastle as many had predicted, with Robson confirming: "He is not a player I am considering at the moment."

Calling Finish mags now for the latest piece of tittle tattle update!

BORO SET TO LOSE OUT TO NEWCASTLE

Last week it was thought that Bryan Robson was trying to add Finland's Hannu Tihinen to his side, to team up with the returning Ugo Ehiogu at the heart of Boro's over generous defence. It now seems though that he has lost out to namesake Bobby Robson at Newcastle.

Tihinen plays alongside Liverpool's Sami Hyypia at the heart of Finland's defence and Boro's assistant manager Viv Anderson and Bobby Robson saw at first hand how good he is when they watched Finland lose 3-0 to the Irish Republic last week Are they being serious!!??.

Despite the result Robson saw enough to be impressed with Tihinen and is expected to make a bid to his club Viking Stavinger, who are hoping to land around £2.5m, dashing the hopes of Bryan Robson as he tries to add to his leaking back four.

There would appear to be a real chance of this one happening. 6'2", now that's better for a centre half!!! From The Journal.

United chance for Finn Tihinen by Jason Mellor NEWCASTLE United last night emerged as late contenders to beat North- East neighbours Middlesbrough to the signature of imposing Finnish international Hannu Tihinen. Bobby Robson has paved the way for the 6ft 2in centre-back to spend a spell on trial at the club's Chester-le-Street training base later this week as the manager looks to counter his defensive injury crisis. The United boss attempted unsuccessfully to bring in a fresh face in the run-up to last Saturday's Tyne-Wear derby defeat. Frenchman Alain Goma became the latest addition to a crippling rearguard casualty list before the Sunderland game, which has resulted in Robert Lee being pressed into in an emergency sweeper's role in recent games. Having seen £2m-rated Viking Stavanger centre-back Tihinen impress for his country in last week's 3-0 friendly defeat by the Republic of Ireland in Dublin, Robson has acted to steal a march on North-East neighbours Middles-brough, who were represented at Lansdowne Road by assistant boss Viv Anderson. Derby County manager Jim Smith has also run the rule over a player whose strength and pace are well suited to the unique rigours of the Premiership. Tihinen also featured against England in last month's World Cup qualifying stalemate in Helsinki, and has established himself alongside Liverpool's Sami Hyypia at the heart of Finland's defence. Stavanger are far from awash with cash and have resigned themselves to losing a player who last appeared for them in the Norwegian cup final, where he had the misfortune of scoring an own goal in a 2-1 defeat. Because of Viking's financial position, Newcastle may be able to knock the asking price down to around £1.5m should they wish to pursue their interest further after taking a closer look this week.

With Shepherd out of the country on 'club' business should we expect a new centre back by the end of the week or a pleasureable week in Spain for Freddie??

VIKING STAVANGER have signed HJK Helsinki defender Toni Kuivasto, which will allow the club to release Hannu Tihinen, although Newcastle United have not, as reported, taken him on trial. This will now enable the club to cash in on Kuivasto's international defensive partner Tihinen, who has been a target for Blackburn, Middlesbrough and West Ham in recent weeks. Reports on Wednesday claimed that Tihinen was travelling to Newcastle for a trial, but both Wallenlind and Viking director of football Bjarne Berntsen have both denied those claims. "I know that they have been interested in the player but there are also other clubs involved," said Wallenlind. "We are just now beginning negotiations so it is bit early to comment." When asked if it was possible that they player will travel to England for a trial, he added: "It might be but we have not yet decided what to do." Berntsen, who said that Middlesbrough have not followed up last week's interest, confirmed that the player had not left Stavanger to go on trial anywhere, and that he is now awaiting contact from either a club or Wallenlind. "We have heard the same rumours but nothing is confirmed yet," he told planetfootball.com. "Newcastle have not shown a direct interest to us. "We have just heard the rumours we never listen to that until we have it official from an agent who wants them over or a club." West Ham were linked with him recently, and they could well make a move for him in the wake of accepting an £18 million bid from Leeds United for Rio Ferdinand and target Ragnvald Soma looking likely to move to Milan.

Here he is.

According to the Ronnie, "reports linking United with Tihinen are wide of the mark" Why then was it the sister paper the Journal who did this reporting?
