hi is it possible to create a dvd compatable still slide show with a sound track playing in the back ground and if so what software would u recommend thanks

It all depends if your dvd player can read cdr/cdrw.

Are you running PC, Windows, 98/NT? Mac?
PC: VideoPack 4.0 enables you to do this in mpeg-1 format.
(5.0 to be released in a few months)
Adaptec Easy SVCD Creator I believe is able to do it in mpeg-2 format.
Nero Burning Rom will work for pictures but no audio.

WinOnCD 3.8 does slideshows with music as well as compressed music CDs that will play on DVD,
