More on Priorities ...

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Poole's Roost II : One Thread

The local TV station that was carrying The Game (which is now history; Auburn skunked 'Bama) received special permission from CBS to not interrupt The Game with any announcements about the election! :)

Of course, this was before the Florida Supreme Court made its ruling, so their request became a moot point, but this just underscores what I said at the old Poole's Roost about priorities here in 'Bama.

Alabama was among the top three states to vote for Bush. The filled the State Supreme Court here with conservatives and Republicans, including Judge Roy Moore, who achieved national attention by hanging the Ten Commandments in his courtroom. The people here like their politics to the right, thank you.

But none of this matters on Game Day. The weather down here is frightful right now -- sleet and freezing rain all over the place -- so there was a mad dash yesterday morning to get bread and milk. But yesterday afternoon, the roads looked almost deserted. Everyone was home watching The Game.

Auburn fans are delighted (delirious). 'Bama fans are depressed and screaming for Mike DuBose's head (his response? "Whatcha gonna do? FIRE me?")

(Hint for the 'Bama-news Impaired: DuBose has ALREADY been fired.)

These things do help me keep a sense of perspective about the madness in Florida, I s'pose. :)

Stephen, it would seem that there's madness, a la Florida, and then there's Madness, a la 'bama.

(I swear I didn't mean to type it that way -- a la 'bama -- but it is kinda cool.)
