Last night on the eleven o'clock news, channel 4 from San Francisco, broke away to a disturbing live feed from their reporter in Austin TX. She said a pickup truck had just rammed the grounds of Governor Bush and shots had been fired. No one had been injured and the pickup got away. She said she was the only reporter there at that hour as it was after 11:00 p m West Coast time. This is not a joke, however, I have not heard one word about it today from any other source

AUSTIN, Texas (CNN) -- The drunken driver of a pickup truck tried to run over a security officer early Saturday a block from the Texas governor's mansion, Austin police said.

A man was arrested and is in Capitol police custody. The incident occurred at about 12:50 a.m. local time. It was not immediately known whether Gov. George W. Bush and his family were home.

The security officer -- a member of the Texas Department of Public Safety -- fired shots at the driver, but no one was injured. The motorist later was found in the truck a few blocks away where, police say, he had passed out.

U.S. Secret Service officers were investigating the matter, police said. The incident did not take place on government property, police said.

Patricia Anderson, communications supervisor with the Austin police department, said, "Basically, it's a DWI that drove up on the wrong property."

Say, since texas has been in an orgy on death row since bush took over, the pro-choice people should have nothing to fear over a bush presidency. A woman's right to an abortion will be safe. And with close to 40 executions this year alone, couldn't it be said that bush is an active participant in all those "retro-active" abortions???? So, he is not a right to lifer as many liberals had feared, in fact, he's quite the opposite!

George Bush is not the judge,on the jury, a member of each sides legal team or a member of the Dept that decides stays of execution etc.He only reviews their findings and recommendations and acts accordingly. The Supreme Court recently (this week) stayed the execution a reportedly mental retarded man, who has been on death row for 21 years on our taxpayers dole. Most of these "innocent"criminals spend too long on the row in my opinion, and the process should not take that long.

Dear "voted republican", I am sorry to hear that your chance to celebrate the death of a fellow human being was denied. This state sponsored murder is something the rest of the 1st world nations condemns and utterly deplores..... Even 3rd world nations have trouble executing someone who has the IQ of 56 and still believes in Santa Claus. If his crime was so dire as to be still a threat, then he should stay for the rest of his life in prison on my taxmoney.... and we call ourselves a humane nation full of compassion... And how can republicans claim to take the high road on abortions when they support the death penalty whole-hearted???? right to life my ass!

Although I am not a Republican, I am right-to-life and I oppose the death penalty. Many democrats who claim to be pro-choice are only pro-choice on that one issue. It seems like both parties are quite hyprocritical.
