I'M THINKING OF PURCHASING A CONON ELAN 2(NOT EYE CONTROL). IS THIS A GOOD CAMERA? I'M NEW TO THE HOBBY OF PHOTOGRAPHY. THE PRICE IS RIGHT BECAUSE IT HAS BEEN DISCONTINUED.

It's a good camera at a good price. Go for it and put what you save into good lenses.

Yeah, good lenses. Not the 28-80 that comes in the Elan II kit. Spend the extra savings on the 28-105 USM, 24-85 USM or 28-135 USM. Much better quality and better than the Sigma, Vivitar etc. equivilents too. If you don't want to spend that much ($250-500) then get the 50mm f:1.8. Cheap & sharp.
