there are only some dvd players that play vcd's and it will say on their, if it doesn't then. it won't be able to play the vcd. same as some vcd players, they can play dvd's but some can't. vcd's don't need special drive to play on pc, not like dvd's.

Well the problem is that most home DVD players will not read CDRs. Go buy an apex DVD player ($99.00) problem solved.

A list of players can be found at www.vcdhelper.com that can tell you what will and what won't play vcd's. Like MOST people, you find out after you bought a player that it will not play cdr/cdrw. Also, I agree about the apex. I threw out my Sony and bought an Apex 703. It plays cdr/cdrw vcd/svcd/dvd/mp3. I couldn't be more happy with it. It also has a track digest feature so you can jump to differen't parts of your vcd. (IE it makes entry points on the fly)

You may want to try burning the VCD with Nero instead. I have a Pioneer DV-525 player and if I burn with EZCD4 the results are inconsistent. Every VCD I've done with Nero has been fine.
