Looking forward to the weekend?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Unofficial Newcastle United Football Club BBS : One Thread

What are your plans for the weekend? Are you excited or nervous about the `big` game? I know I`ve got butterflies - but I`m really looking forward to the match and wish I was going to be up there with you all. The atmosphere is going to be electric! I keep getting flashbacks and seeing our lads wallowing around on that flooded pitch with the rain coming down in sheets and the crowd baying......makes me shudder! I`m not going to tempt fate with a prediction, I just wish it was 3 o`clock tomorrow!!!! NEWCASTLE... NEWCASTLE.... NEWCASTLE.......ETC.!!!

I shall be watching the footie in the morning (just to get in the mood and fill in some time) then joining whoever on the Match Day Thread (always releived when the webcast comes through loud and clear).

Then out with friends in the evening to Kuti`s in Southampton. (For those of you who payed us a visit, that would be with Derek and Marion again). Derek is a Southampton supporter (pah!), and Kuti`s is a great indian restaurant - only draw back is that it is where the Southampton team go to celebrate. Need I say more!

Sunday I shall be glued to the computer - waiting for the firsthand reports coming in!

To those of you going - have a fantastic time, and look after yourselves!!!(:o)

Galaxy, Do you know, I think you're wonderful. You are so enthusiastic and pleasant. Regarding the match, I am excited. I was supposed to be coming for a few days but work put paid to that. I'm at an offsite today and I'd have loved to have been in the Toon today. However, I am a gibbering useless wreck and I may as well have taken the day off.

Me!!! getting very nervous and excited already. The drive up tomorrow will feel like forever!

Missed the last derby at sjp so I am hoping for a great atmos and lots of singing! And a 2-0 win of course

>> "where the Southampton team go to celebrate"
normally fairly quiet then! ;-))

I'm out for a Kulchi tonight in the Romsey Purbani ... never tried Kuti's. Golf in the morning and then.... I don't know.

If I watch Sky Sports we always lose.... if I watch teletsxt we always lose... if I listen to radio 5. I'm almost tempted to try and avoid the score until MOTD.
Naaa. wouldn't work. I'll be pacing the house listening to Radio5 and watching Sky and teletext.

Saturday evening will be spent in a celebratory drunken stuper

My two lads were actually fighting for the single kids ticket that they share. They almost came to a compromise when the youngest said that the he would give up the next five games if he could go to the Sunderland game with his dad.

no doubt they'll be fighting tommorow as well, and I'll have to be the one to disapoint one of them

anyone got a spare ticket?

Setting off at 6am tomorrow to maximise pre-match build up ritual. Sitting at my desk today but not getting a lot of work done. Good will prevail over Evil, last Season was a travesty, revenge will be sweet, BRING 'EM ON

Geordie - is that place in Romsey good? Pete and I used to go over to Romsey to the Chinese there - can`t remember what it was called, but it was out on it`s own way outside of the town. Kuti`s is worth a visit - superb menu, lots of really unusual dishes, though the service is chronic when it`s busy.(:o)

Rik - I wouldn`t want to be in your shoes this weekend. (:o|

-- Anonymous, November 17, 2000

It probably would have been cheeper for me to have bought a £71 ticket for mysell and let the kids go into the game on their own.

I know I'll end up having to promise to take the one that loses out to PC world for a new game to play as compesation for losing out. That'll lead to my 5 year old daughter crying as she's got nowt, meaning a trip to toys R broke on sunday. Then when I come back the lad who went o the game will be saying that it's not fair that he hasn't got a present meaning another trip and another unwanted purchase.

why did I ever have kids?

Wor lass is away for the weekend, I've got a mate coming up from Yorkshire for the game who I've not seen in a few years, it's all being set up nicely. Now it's up to the lads...

-- Anonymous, November 17, 2000

Well, 12oook away fromm the toon and everyone is acting like it's just another weekend!!!! Me personally, I've decided to see and speak to as few people as possible. I'm more up tight about this game than any other for a long long time. It's a must win game to me! i've got this horrible Huthchinson feeling that I stave of with copious amounts of alchohol.

Will be on-line tomorrow night as per usual but probably a little more tense. This game has a sphincter factor of 9.0!!

To everyone going to the game ..... give it @hit loads of volume as I'll be listening and for those who can remember just think of Big John Macnamee swinging from the net at joker park

Good luck and may the toon be with you

Galaxy, we are regulars at the Purbani in Romsey. We obviously like it! I have a policy of never recommending restaurants 'cos people who take up the advice inevitably end up having a crap meal!

Tonight will be one of the few times I've eaten there reasonably sober as we're eating at 8:30. Our usual is half a dozen HSB's in the Old House at Home and several ales with the meal.

Can't wait. Been distracted all week and just want this settled. Hope that tosser McCann has recovered enough to take part so that someone can break his bloody legs. Not prepared to accept anything but a whitewash. We have occasionally looked like we are about to click and hand out a severe beating and I reckon that tomorrow will be the day.

Very excited about tomorrow. Will be fidgeting like crazy from 10a-noon watching the Manchester-London derby ;-) Hope it's an entertaining game!

Other than that, going to the happy hour my friend is hosting in her new apartment tonight. Might check out the new mega-mall/entertainment complex opening in the next town. Or perhaps sleep as the last couple of weeks have been insanely busy. Honestly though I can't think about anything other than our game tomorrow right now. :-)

HOWAY THE LADS!!!!

Short trip down Interstate 90 (well, 10 miles short of 350) for a meetup with Syme. Anybody knaa what he looks like - Chicago's a big place. Then chill out with some live music after stuffing the Mackems. Then another short drive back.

-- Anonymous, November 17, 2000

I'm not going Galaxy.

I suspect it may be on telly here and I might have to get a video tape to record the match so I can copy it and send it all ower the world.

Sad life me, really although I can go to most places in the world and get some free drinks can't I?

-- Anonymous, November 17, 2000

Ooh Gus - put me on your list for video copy! (:o)

-- Anonymous, November 17, 2000

Kids are with the in-laws for a couple of nights..whahay. So my wife's coming into town (Lahndan) this evening..drink, catch something to eat, probably see Billy Elliot.

I've been trying to convince my wife that an impromtu trip up to Newcastle (tickets or not)and back tomorrow was feasible, but my persuasive powers aren't what they used to be, so it's Christmas shopping for most of tomorrow....arggghhhhh. Keeping my options open for saturday night...might need to.

-- Anonymous, November 17, 2000

Windy - I`ve decided that one of the lesser recognised effects of global warming is to the calendar. By my reckoning we should just about be coming to the end of June, `cos I`m damn sure it`s not more than six months since I was trudging around doing the whole Christmas Shopping thing! If it isn`t that, I vote we celebrate Christmas every two years from now on!!!(:o)

-- Anonymous, November 17, 2000

It's not just Christmas shopping, Galaxy. Shopping should be banned, full stop. Except food shopping, strangely, I don't mind that.

-- Anonymous, November 17, 2000

I simply do not understand the enjoyment people seem to get from shopping. Correction.........wandering aimlessly around the shops! I certainly enjoy buying gifts for people, and sometimes even for myself - but I am a very purposeful and efficient shopper, and very much a `lone` shopper. Much to the delight of my husband I have to say, who is quite happy to go with the idea that Christmas will just `happen`!

You can`t possibly mean that you enjoy the traditional `too much for one trolley` Christmas food shopping event!!! I bet your wife does that one on her own! That is my idea of Hell and is guaranteed to burst my Christmas bubble!

-- Anonymous, November 17, 2000

No, your right Galaxy. The sort of food shopping I do tends to be the additional bits and pieces rather than the shopping trolley basics. I probably don't mind it because I don't have to do it that often....

I've just had a horible thought. Imagine Russell Cushing logging on to find us talking about shopping. Urghhhmmm. So what about Rob Lee as a sweeper then?

-- Anonymous, November 17, 2000

I`ve heard he`s a dab hand with a hoover and a feather duster! (;o)

-- Anonymous, November 17, 2000

Well - the afternoon`s almost over, and I expect you`ll all be pushing off home soon, so this is your resident BBs cybermum saying...have a fantastic day tomorrow, be careful, and get those firsthand match reports posted asap!!!

The rest of you......meet you for a cyber pint around two tomorrow? (;o)

-- Anonymous, November 17, 2000

What's this about Rob Lee, his hand, a hoover and a feather duster? ;-)

Have a good weekend.

Meeting up with this new lad gans by the name of Screacher, anyone knaa what he looks like. Exam t'morra at 9am in the bar by 1030am with pint in hand and hand on heart praying like a mad man. Live music by the score t'morra neet. Driving up to Canada on Monday for some needed R&R.

-- Anonymous, November 17, 2000

Half an hour to go till the weekend!! Looking forward to it. Driving to Colchester this morning at some stupid hour thinking about the Lads tomorrow gave me a bellyful of butterflies, hope they do themselves justice.

Not doing much tomorrow, watching the Manc derby as it's on Sky. I'll be logging in to the Matchday thread tomorrow, instructing my girlfriend not to disturb me unless she has brought a tinnie from the fridge.

Girlfriend's Graduation on Sunday, her parents coming up etc etc. Try not to look too hungover!! Sunday evening in the pub telling everybody about the marvellous Newcastle victory.

-- Anonymous, November 17, 2000

Have you ever seen Les Battersby from Coronation Street? :-)

-- Anonymous, November 17, 2000

A bit late for the day-posters, but I'm quietly confident about Judgement Day - for me this is a real big itch that needs scratching.
We are the better team and one that's due to give some team a good stuffing - let's all hope the makems prove to be the Xmas turkey!

-- Anonymous, November 17, 2000

Off night shift - sleep for a pair, rise , on pretext of taking dog for walk, will smuggle hip flask, tranny, ascend high ground to rear of farm, face south , pray and generally make an arse of myself to any watching deer, foxes, rabbitts and of course my dog . Have faith

-- Anonymous, November 17, 2000

Working again.....will hopefully have full and uninterupted access to the MOTD piccies........webcast commentary and the 'virtual' supporters clubs....what a brilliant way to spend a November saturday afternoon......almost as good as being at SJP.......I wanna be there!

-- Anonymous, November 17, 2000

Oi Softie - Les has put on an awful lot of weight over the last two weeks. Hes trying to change his image and blend in with the locals.

-- Anonymous, November 17, 2000

Wor lass and yours truly driving up Sat am having missed the last few home games. We've got to be there - give wor tickets to friends twice and lost 1-0 both times. Driving back Sat night, joint birthday bash with mother-in-law on Sunday (not my idea). Am I not nervous! (aboot the game)
