(11-15) 01:51 EST LOS ANGELES (AP) -- An American Airlines jet reporting a flap problem made an emergency landing at Los Angeles International Airport on Tuesday evening. No one was hurt.

The Boeing 767, on a flight from New York's John F. Kennedy International Airport to LAX, landed safely at 10:16 p.m., said Bruce Nelson, a Federal Aviation Administration operations officer in Los Angeles.

Flight 185 had reported a flap problem, Nelson said, but he did not have further details.

Calls seeking comment from American Airlines and the airport were not immediately returned.
