Shocking

Makems are being allowed to buy corporate packages in the home end and in the sports bar. There are loads of Makems claiming to have so done. Segregation? No we won't bother? It's not like we are playing a team that we can expect ructions with.

I have a feeling there is going to be hell on in Newcastle on Saturday. I remember being there many moons ago and it looked like they had one policman per sunderland fan.

I echo those feelings that there will be bother on Saturday, but not just in Newcastle. The match is being shown live on some foreign satellite channel...should be interesting around here in Washington then!!!

The following is an Official response from NUFC after I alerted them of a potential problem, as highlighted by Dougal:

"There is always a risk that intermingling can occur but our Safety Officer says that any Sunderland fans found in home areas will be asked to move to the visitor's segregated area. If they refuse they will be escorted from the ground in the interest of public order.
By the way, the old Magpie restaurant area is now sometimes sold as an away corporate area which may have lead to this rumour. It will be occupied by home supporters this time round.
There is always a risk also in corporate areas, although we place greater onus on the host to ensure appropriate behaviour. Once again we would take appropriate action if problems occur. Regards
.

Well, there you have it - straight from the horses mouth. At the very least, we have alerted the Club to a potential problem, so they should certainly be ready to deal with it if it does occurr.
