11/13/00 By RICHARD LAKE Staff Reporter Three cars of a 55-car freight train carrying potentially hazardous chemicals derailed Sunday morning near the Alabama State Docks.

No one was injured and the chemicals did not leak, authorities said.

The Burlington Northern train included tanker cars carrying 156,000 pounds of butadiene and 180,000 pounds of butyl acrylate, both extremely flammable chemicals, said Steve Huffman, spokesman for the Mobile Fire-Rescue Department.
