Report from PTOC event at Monkey Mountain

greenspun.com : LUSENET : orienteer kansas : One Thread

The second day of PTOC's 2-day B meet was at Monkey Mountain. MM is not one of my favorite areas. But, I had fun today. The map is a bit rough. Though Tom Hanley pointed out it is a lot better than the old black and white maps. Tom set nice coures. He emphasized setting interesting legs rather than trying to make hard-to-find controls. This makes for much more interesting orienteering. Tom's courses used the area well and had some good variety (i.e. changes in leg length and direction).

Both the Wyandotte meet and today's race attracted several local "adventure racers." These folks seem to be quite interested in O' and have a good attitude. Let's hope we see them at more and more events.
