What do *WE* look like??????????

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TB2K spinoff uncensored : One Thread

Since this is getting completely out of hand as each day goes by, one must wonder ""What do *we* look like" to other Countries?

Now is the appropriate time for the haters of America to take advantage. We have a 'silent' President, who imo is just waiting to hang onto the white house for dear life and although I did vote for Gore, I dont give a filthy flying F### who wins at this point.

Legal battles, recounts, revotes, etc...shows how messed up our way of voting really is. My vote does count? NOT.

I'm sick of this shit already. What a disgrace. Utter disgrace.

I say NO recount, NO revote, No concession, No nothing.

*IF* my man Gore had any class, he would concede already and let it go. YES I say in all honesty and I voted for the sob.

That's rather pathetic of you. Instead of acknowledging that these are very real problems and trying to resolve them so that they won't happen again, you try to make them go away by throwing a tantrum. Now you even stoop so low as to insult the very person you voted for. Shame, shame, everybody knows your name, consumer.

I agree that it could be done graciously and not the way Gore is acting. We look like fools to the rest of the world.

Well *I* certainly care. Why? Because of the SUPREME COURT and the impact newly-appointed conservative (typically bible-bashing, racist and bigotted) appointees can have on our lives for *decades* to come. There's a LOT at stake with this election.

That SHOULD have read "Bible THUMPING". My bad. ;-P

FWIW, WHEN *I* throw a tantrum, you will be the first to know.

The above is my opinion, I am entitled to it and shall stick to it.

Yes everyone DOES know my name, I am not a coward, I do not hide behind an AliASS like you.

Come on out from behind the curtain and put your dukes up or shut up.

I'm only expressing what most of america is feeling right about now anyway. So cordially put "BITE ME".

"I'm only expressing what most of america is feeling right about now anyway."

Well, thank you for doing that, we appreciate it. Maybe YOU should be president?

Ya know, Consumer, despite of how you voted..I like the way you say "Bite me"...lol

I'm concerned about the country too, and I understand how you feel. Regardless of who wins, I would have much rather have seen a fair race. The fact that a state were Gore won by 2,000 could go to a margain of 207 (or something like that)....or Bush could go from 1,000s to hundreds... this all calls a lot into question.

EITHER, someone is fudging votes on BOTH sides of this campaign, OR, we really have a very inept voting and reporting system, which will then call into question the results of every race ever won by even a larger margin.

The outcome is important to me, as to obviously everyone in this country when they walked into those booths. Half the people will go unrepresented. All we can hope and pray for is that whomever becomes the President after this mess...will take that into consideration.

PS..the last Republican appointee for supreme court was Clarence Thomas, a black man, and it was the Democrates who had a problem with him..I don't know who felt the Republicans are racists..but Bush wanted very much for Colin Powell to be VP..and hopes to have him in his cabinet. I don't know how you (not you sumer) could make such allegations.

Hey Kritter,

The above was how I felt when I cast my vote. Although I stated I dont give a flying *&^% who wins, reality says "I really do", I'm just sick of the entire BS.

I never professed to "know" politics, I *always* believed my vote counted, I am not so sure now.

I know after I cast my vote, I felt badly. I am not feeling so badly now. Divine intervention, is what I believe Bingo said....perhaps he is correct. Al is correct, I guess moi needs a chill pill.

So, in light of all this back and forth, although fun as it is at times, I realize this is VERY important stuff. So, with that in mind, I RAISE my Mich Lite (very much needed after the day I've had) to a gracious toast to you my friend Kritt.

And to the above yo-yo, I again state for the record a cordial "BITE ME".

xoxo,sumer

PS..the last Republican appointee for supreme court was Clarence Thomas, a black man, and it was the Democrates who had a problem with him..I don't know who felt the Republicans are racists..

My original comment said racists AND bigots. The Dems had a problem with Clarence Thomas not because he was black but because of Anita Hill's testimony that he had been sexist (which comes under the Bigot category). And if I'm not mistaken, he is a bible-thumper so score one for the 'Publican Credentials Camp.

As for Colin Powell being accepted by the 'Publicans, he stands as one of the *few* exceptions to the rule. And rightfully so...I mean, he's Colin Powell for god's sake! (Too bad HE didn't run for President - but how many Rednecks deep in the heart of Texas would have voted for HIM? See what I mean?)

And just how many blacks, gays, and atheists do you think are embraced by the 'Publicans as opposed to the Dems?

To answer your question ssh,as a Brit living in Ireland & watching events unfold as reported by BBC & Irish RTE News the general opinion seems to be that its riveting stuff. As to whether the US Voting system needs overhauling nobody this side of the Pond is really prepared to start throwing stones in the glass greenhouse. If there is a negative fallout it arises from the behaviour of both Gore & Bush.Bush for seemingly wanting to jump the gun and Gore for not conceeding gracefully in the greater interests of America aka Nixon
