Injuries - Can anyone remember....

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Unofficial Newcastle United Football Club BBS : One Thread

When last, a Newcastle player returned 'earlier than expected' from injury.

I can't

Not us. Ours are always out for longer.

Sorry but this scenario around Carl Cort is a joke

Well, the last one was Warren Barton, Pete - and we all know what happened to him!
I'm afraid the CC situation doesn't make me laugh - anymore than the one surrounding WB, or Dabz before him. I find it all deeply disturbing.

Not to mention a tall, lanky Scots ex-convict.

It's all a piggin' joke, we spent almost 10 mill on two players this season and they don't have a full game between them. Time to look at our physio department and fitness guys, they don't seem to know how to keep a player from the injury table

Cort can't help it if he's injured. Unlike Big Drunk, he isn't injury prone and this is his first major injury. OK so he cost a lot of money, but ne unlike Elena want o play football for Newcatle and will be available in the new year. As for the origional question, we were led to believe thatDabizas would be out forthe whole of the season. e now looks likely to return in early Feb along with Cort.

My concern is as much to do with the length of time it has taken to diagnose this problem.

Cort was injured THREE MONTHS ago

Rest, rest and more rest.

YBR on MOTD saying Cort would be back mid Nov

Well what a bloody surprise Cort needs surgery for a 'chronic injury which could not have got better without surgery' The injury he sustained THREE months ago, that will keep him out for another TWO months!

Please tell me the logic in all this and why the hell it was not fixed first time around.

When I buy running shoes, I buy two pairs at a time. For some inexpicable reason, they last longer than when I buy one pair , then replace them later in the year with a new pair.

Teddy 'he's too old to spend money on (so sayeth Kenny)' Sherringham is a classic example. If were not careful Shearer will be worn out long before his sell by date.

In the words of YBR if Shearer gets injured it will be my problem. Sorry Bobby it will be a major problem for many of us.

Notice no additional stuff on Flo....!

Too many injuries and injuries that take too long to clear up seems to be a problem we have had for many years. I think it has been mooted many times (amongst fans) that our fitness procedures and staff must be open to question.

Of course, it could be just the club "jinx". As regards the staff and our methods in this area, I find it hard to believe we would be very far out of line with the best and most modern developments. And if we ARE wanting in any of these areas, then I find it hard to believe that a man of Bobby Robson's vast experience and knowledge wouldn't identify and rectify the problem quickly.

So, I suspect we're just (massively) unlucky, which is a shame because it would be nice to know there was a problem there that could be put right.

For evidence of the jinx I mean just look at the Shearer injury at Goodison - pre-season pointless game, dying seconds, nothing to play for, no player near him, suddenly he collapses in agony and is out for most of the season and never quite regains 100% of his old magic. Added to which Sir Les is in talks on his transfer out of the club. This is almost proof positive of the jinx but if you want to look further back then there was the wonderful Tony Green - aaah the Toon fan was born to suffer, but it is better to have loved and lost etc.

In answer to pete's original question....it was probably Pistone after that Makem twat McCann broke his leg.

It wasn't until he went to Everton that he got twatted again. hehe
