I have mpeg scissors and it is not only slow, but encodes the wrong amount of time specified and locks up my system. Where can i get a really fast cutter for free?

I have heard that ifilm edit and vcd cutter are good, but i haven't found any that are w/ serial numbers. please help.

Try Tmpgenc. The best encoder,it can cut and it's free See http://www.vcdhelp.com/tmpgencedit.htm Ifilm is also a great cutter. Good luck

Always use a GOP level editor like iFilmEdit. Frame level editors will reencode and degrade your mpeg. If you are captureing to AVI first use an avi editor to do frame level encoding then encode to mpeg.

Good luck.

I just happen to write a free mpeg audio and video cutter, you can find it at http://mpgcut.sourceforge.net but be advised that it is a command line tool : ex : mpgcut mymovie.mpg [0:35:0-1:45:4.45] will cut your movie from 0h35mn0s to 1h45mn4.45s you may want to cut your movie in, say, four parts: mpgcut -n 4 mymovie.mpg will do so.

It's a GOP based cutter.
