Gwenn Shamblin's heresy and her strange defenders...

greenspun.com : LUSENET : The Christian Church : One Thread

I have been amazed at the number of people fooled by the issue of Gwenn Shamblin's heretical views of Jesus. It seems that shedding pounds now is more important than the divinity of Christ. I was concerned about her impact and the Oprah-like spiritualists who posted on that last thread about this have convinced me that her impact is much greater (and scarier) than I ever originally envisioned.

Satan has a good tool in the WDW and Gwenn Shamblin these days.

Micahel, your observation is very valid. In this week's edition of the Baptist Messenger (an in-house newspaper for Oklahoma Baptists) was an interesting article which I may reproduce in toto later because of its appropriateness. The article talks about the latest Barna survey of youth. Incredibly, about 60% of America's youth claim to be born again Christians. On closer examination, Barna's folks found that only about 1/3 of those who claimed to be Christian actually had a born-again experience. In the youth surveyed there was an almost complete absence of biblical knowledge, and instead their values and spiritualality came from Hollywood. The majority did not believe that the Bible was the word of God, or that Satan was a real being.

That conclusion was not surprising to them (Barna Group) because they found the same parallel in the adults in American churches. We have churches full of unbelieving "believers." (I'd like to add that this election proves it, but that would be too cliche'.)

Gore has his "fuzzy math", but a lot of people have "fuzzy theology."

Yes, those tares and those foolish virgins are sitting in the pews next to the wheat and the wise virgins and there will be an ingathering of the sheaves when Christ returns.

Also weeping and gnashing of teeth.
