Good news (maybe) for US mags

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Unofficial Newcastle United Football Club BBS : One Thread

Looking at the schedule for Saturday Nov 18th (Black Cat Saturday) whoever thought of the name black cats for the makems should be given a three pointed hat with bells on. Back to my point. With the manchester derby taking place at 1130am and our fixture with the black twats (sorry cats) being the only other one worth watching, it looks promising that we might either be on Setanta or Fox.

For Florida Mags - try The Shakespear in Ft Lauderdale.

Geordie June and co will no doubt be showing the match.

Two great days over their from The Bahamas for Cup Finals - despite the losses

Can I become a temporary member of the US Mags? I dunno where I'll be - Tucson Az, Rochester Mn or even in the Windy City (if anybody can recommend a good place to watch). Keep us posted Syme.

-- Anonymous, November 07, 2000

We'll probably be tape delayed on Fox. The Mancs running Setanta always hog the live slot with tape delays of MoanU's early kick offs :-/

I hope we're on!! And Screach, if you find yourself in DC, I can recommend the British Embassy. ;-)

-- Anonymous, November 07, 2000

I never thought about DC. I could perhaps fit in a bit of sight seeing. I hear there;s a few sights - talking of which, will it be Bore or Gush?

-- Anonymous, November 07, 2000

Sorry to be a bore but its Bush .. i had to get in here at 6.15 just to hear that , can i go back to sleep now , zzzzzz . Florida held the key , watch those taxes drops and interest rates go up ; - /

-- Anonymous, November 08, 2000

recount , Bush ahead by 1300 votes with 2500 postal votes to be received .. may not know until the end of the week .. how bliddy American !

-- Anonymous, November 08, 2000

Getting back to the real issue in hand. It's on in Japan live, which means that it will probably on on a global level. looks like I'll have to go out to the Sports Bar in Tokyo and watch this game, see if there are any Mackems about to laugh at!

-- Anonymous, November 08, 2000

Sorry kegsy NUFC far more important , i should never lose site of that ; - ) Screach get yerself over to the British embassy in washington if you can , canny bunch of lads : - )) Oh Gore is in the lead again now US mags only : - ))

-- Anonymous, November 08, 2000

Gore comes from behind to lick Bush????

-- Anonymous, November 08, 2000

In all honesty I've been following it pretty closely on the net today, it's just that we NUFC has more importance than who will be the second most important man in the world over the next 4 years.

-- Anonymous, November 08, 2000

Except for those of us stuck living here :-(((( Gore ahead in POPULAR vote...as in the people's voice. But whoever wins Florida wins the presidency because of the outmoded electoral college.

So how does one go about defecting? Gawd I can't wait til Saturday to listen to the Leicester game...I need something to cheer me up!

-- Anonymous, November 08, 2000

The TV stations and press are gannin' nuts ower here. The "early finals" were saying Bush won. Gore even phoned Bush to concede and offer congratulations - then he phoned back and said he'd changed his mind.

Couldn't you just imagine him doing that to the Ruskis? "Hey Mr Presidentski, we're at war. The missiles are on the way." Ten minutes later "Er, sorry, I was given some incorrect information".

Another "only in the US" story going round is that some guy who was elected (senate, congress - who knaas) was in fact dead! I guess its sad for his family, but I nearly p1$$ed mesel' when I heard it.

-- Anonymous, November 08, 2000

Screach get yersell ower to the Big C man, I'll make sure you're well taken care of.

-- Anonymous, November 08, 2000

I mihgt well be passing thru Syme. Dunno my movements yet?

-- Anonymous, November 08, 2000

Few Bottles of dog should help you there Screach ; - )

-- Anonymous, November 08, 2000

>>>>some guy who was elected (senate, congress - who knaas) was in fact dead!

Cueing the famous line, altogether now :-

How did they know?

I think you're liveism could offend a few people Screach. The dead aren't well represented in politics and those of us a bit nearer that condition ought to hail that vote as a bit of a result! (-;

-- Anonymous, November 08, 2000

Jonno, the person to which you elude in fact died in an airplane about a month ago, so they elected his wife and she wasn't even on the ballot. very bizarre.

I'm in Orlando from Saturday for 2 weeks. I've been recommended the Cricketers or the Fox and Hounds which always show Setanta.

www.soccertv.com seems to be pretty detailed about whats on which channel.

All I need now is a day off rollercoasters and its the Mackems to be stuffed.

-- Anonymous, November 08, 2000

Josh - you got any space on your floor in Orlando? I got loads of airmiles ;-))

-- Anonymous, November 08, 2000

Screach

There's 8 of us e & Caroline + 2 Joshettes + Maurice & Sue + 2 littleuns. No spare beds but Saturday is a rest day in our schedule (not my idea but a fortunate coincidence).

I can't remember what Sunday involves - its almost certainly rollercoasters &/or cartoon characters somewhere.

Are you serious ?

Tomorrows my last day in work so use all my emails - Freeerve has been pants recently so I've been using the one on this post a bit more. We travel this Saturday 9 am.

-- Anonymous, November 09, 2000

Josh - it was just a thought. I'm in Rochester MN this week and next. We are likely off to Tucson sometime, but exactly where I'll be on 18th Nov is undecided. One thing is certain - if it's on TV somewhere in US, I wanna try to get to se it, preferably with Mags (don't ask who Mags is - I won't tell!).

The Brit Embassy in DC has been suggested, and Syme is making noises about Chicago. But if I'm headed down south, Orlando is "sort of" on the way down there. However, Chicago seems most likely, as I fly American and that's their hub.

Will you be sneaking some time in an internet cafe whenyou're there? If not, I'll not even contemplate meeting up in Fl. BTW - are you hoping to vote when you're there? I hear they're making offers!

-- Anonymous, November 09, 2000

I once got Sh1tf@ced in the Brit Embassey in DC, ended up asleep on the DC Metro on my way to god know's where but somewhere altogether very scary. It wasn't the best of bars there as I recall, but it was open on a Sunday at 11am and served Broon. Gullits first game against Liverpool.

-- Anonymous, November 09, 2000

Screach

The house has a phone I think - I'd hope to touch the internet somewhere but without the luxury of world wide company access it'll have to be a cafe.

Caroline says 'I want to get away and leave England behind for 2 weeks - what's the fuss about one match' - perhaps she hasn't learned after 10 years of bliss.

The 18th will be Mag watching somewhere. I'll be in touch.

-- Anonymous, November 09, 2000

Screach! I sent you an email at genie, hope it's ok.

-- Anonymous, November 09, 2000

Screach! Pardon my ignorance but what is the .cc list?

-- Anonymous, November 09, 2000

It's a "Carbon Copy" list. I presume you saw my "other" email address on the note as I copied it to that id as well. Despiite what I said, I don't have access to my work email right now - later tho.

-- Anonymous, November 09, 2000

Scratchy,

Gullits first game v Liverpool - I'll bet that did your hangover no end of good...

-- Anonymous, November 09, 2000

buff,

not bad. you? how was your BBS 'leave of absence'?

3pm here now - bored, bored bored...

-- Anonymous, November 09, 2000

Hey - this is a grand idea. 3 Brits (somewhat dispersed) hijacking the US Mags thread. At least you 2 have an excuse - Buff's on night shift and Min's in a differnt universe. Me? I'm just bored and have free connection in my appartment. Just caal iz Billy Nee-Mates.

At least the radio is crackin' good. As I type, Floyd's Wish you were here is playing. God, how apt. Yes pet (nee names lyuk), I wish you were here. Or should that be Wish I was there?

-- Anonymous, November 09, 2000

oooh, careful using the words 'hi-jack' and US in the same thread. Brings some people out in palpatations. If i had a job of course, i wouldn't be here right now...

you in the US now Mr Screacher sir?

Sorry guys, got mee heed doon for a pair of hours, its aal these pills am on yuh see. Usually I play crib or canasta with the fairer sex in the states, why is it they are usually from Winsconsin Ciarra?, is it a one horse state?, met some interesting partners tho, as soon as I mention Scotland, cue the answer "Cool", my reply is , its bliddy freezin pet!!. Hey this is true, anything remotely suggestive and I am offski but at times lately I have had this nagging feeling that others were not entirely comfortable with me. Its was all down to my handle- Buff, daft bats thought I was a PC Perv and got my kicks in playing partner cribbage in the noodey!!(not a pretty sight I may add), In the not so long ago Tre would have been posting at this time 0530hrs with his lists of young hopefuls for the day, whatever came of Matthew Etherington pal, not in the under 21`s or for that matter Clinton Morrision?, lets get back on board man, miss you

-- Anonymous, November 10, 2000

-- Anonymous, November 10, 2000

Yep pardner Min. I've gotta nutha 3 weeks to do. Hee hah! Have a nice weekend.

-- Anonymous, November 10, 2000

Setanta is definitely showing the Manc derby as the live match next Saturday. Fingers crossed Fox World do the sensible thing and choose our match for the tape delay. That sched usually shows up on soccertv.com around Weds/Thurs.

-- Anonymous, November 11, 2000

They've been known to change their minds in the past, BUT, Fox's EPL show did say we'd be one of the featured matches next week which should indicate that Fox World will show us on tape delay after the Manc derby. :-)

-- Anonymous, November 12, 2000

I've been surfing the channels (aal 78 of them) on my cable tonight but couldn't even find the prog which showed UPL highlights last Sunday. I blame this frgiin' 'lection. (non) action replays of recount after recount. Why don't they just have a penalty shoot out and get back to sah-cur?

Please, for my sanity's sake, can somebody tell me how/where to watch some footy?
