Party over at Janus?
NEW YORK (CNNfn) - Officials at the Janus Capital Corp. are becoming concerned that Janus's stellar growth rate over the past three years is gone forever, the Wall Street Journal reported Tuesday, citing an internal company memorandum from the Denver mutual fund firm.
Analysts who cover Stilwell, Janus' majority owner whose revenue growth is intricately tied to the fate of the fund firm, have said that Stilwell's 100 percent year-over-year earnings growth was "unsustainable" and that while Janus is a great fund firm it is bound to feel constraints on its growth both because it is largely undiversified and it cannot escape the lagging effects of the current market downturn or the fortunes of the fund industry.
