ARIZONA DAILY STAR

Phone service in the Drexel Heights area was knocked out last night, affecting residents and several police and fire departments.

The Pima County Sheriff's Department reported that the Drexel Heights Fire Department and the Pascua Yaqui fire and police departments were without phone service.

The cause of the phone service failure was not known last night. Workers estimated that service would not be restored until sometime this morning.

A command post was set up by the Sheriff's Department at the intersection of Valencia Road and Camino de Oeste so that residents of the area could report 911-related incidents.

The affected area was bordered by Valencia Road on the south, Beehive Road on the east and Mark Road to the west.

Some homes north of Valencia Road were also thought to be affected. http://www.azstarnet.com/star/today/001107phoneout.html
