CLOUDS POETRY CONTEST

The Christian literary magazine, Head in the Clouds, announces its first short poetry contest through its Cloud Couplets poem list.

Poems submitted must have two to four lines of traditional poetry (with rhyme and meter) with a Christian theme. Titles are mandatory. No entry fee required. Limit of three poems per submission.

Themes with any Christian or Biblical content are permitted, though sectarian themes will be disqualified. Poems should be fresh, vigorous, and thoughtful.

Winners will be published in the Cloud Couplets poem list and in the December 2000 issue of the on-line literary magazine, Head in the Clouds. There is a good possibility of the winning poem(s) being published in an international gospel magazine of over 60,000 circulation! That has yet to be confirmed with the publisher.

Winners will be announced December 1st on the Cloud Couplets poem list.

Prizes will be awarded in books.

First place: Fire in My Bones, by Dr. Glover Shipp, senior editor of The Christian Chronicle. 236 pages.

Second place: Love Poems, by Betty Burton Choate, author and missionary to India.

Third place: Vital Thoughts for a Victorious Marriage, by Dr. Elvis H. Huffard, Sr., marriage counsellor and university professor in family therapy.

The author agrees to give to Head in the Clouds and Cloud Couplets poem list one-time electronic publication rights and one-time world publication rights for possible print publication. After publication, all rights revert to the author.

Deadline for submissions: 26 November 2000

Contest is open to subscribers of the Cloud Couplets poem list, but otherwise no other restrictions of age or location apply. Electronic submission must be made through a special e-mail address furnished upon subscription to Cloud Couplets.

E-mail sub: poem-subscribe@smartgroups.com
On-line sub: http://smartgroups/groups/poem

Submissions should be sent as e-mail text. E-mails with attachments will be deleted without notification to the author. Submissions must include, below the poems, full name (with pseudonymn, if used), e-mail address, complete snail mail address, telephone, and a 100-word bio.

Please send this contest announcement to your friends, writers' lists and groups.
