Saturday November 4 6:56 PM ET Man Dies in Train Accident in Southern California

MOORPARK, Calif. (Reuters) - One person was killed and another seriously injured when an Amtrak train collided with a truck crossing its track Saturday near this Ventura County town about 50 miles northwest of Los Angeles, police said

Three of the train's six cars were derailed as a result of the accident which took place shortly after noon and 23 people aboard the train were treated for minor injuries, a Ventura County police spokesman said.

He added that one person in the truck was killed and another seriously injured. That person had to be airlifted to a local hospital for treatment of multiple fractures.

The truck, a vehicle used to trim trees, was crossing the track when it collided with Amtrak train 462 en route to Santa Barbara from San Diego.
