WILLMAR, Minn. -- Authorities evacuated downtown Willmar Friday night after two train cars collided, spilling fertilizer and diesel fuel. People have since been allowed back into the area.

A train car carrying the fertilizer Urea crashed into a locomotive about 7:10 p.m. The crash tore a hole in the locomotive and diesel fuel spilled onto the tracks, mixing with the fertilizer. The driver of the locomotive was injured in the crash.

An evacuation was ordered of an area within a one-third mile radius of the spill as a precaution, officials said. Residents were taken to Willmar Junior High School.
