How does William Wilson explore the issue of selfhood and identity?

Could be the age-old struggle of good and evil within a single individual as symbolized by the twin, double, schizophrenic or mirror figures or dichotomies within a single complex human being. The "willing suspension of disbelief!" or blindness of the individual in taking responsibility for his own actions; the common tendency to blame someone outside oneself for personal shortcomings. Some say the other Wilson could have been Poe's projected anger against his moralizing and more socially mainstream foster parent, Mr. Allen. What do YOU think?
