The Stanislaus Regional 911 Center's move to its new state-of-the-art home in northeast Modesto is on hold for a couple of days.

The move was to be done Wednesday but was delayed because of a glitch in the computer server that runs the new telephone system.

Emergency officials want to be confident that the transition to the new center will have no effect on public safety, sheriff's spokesman Kelly Huston said Wednesday.

Once the computer problem is fixed, Huston said, the 911 dispatchers will move to the new facility. That could be as soon as Friday.

In the meantime, dispatchers will stay in the basement of 1100 H St. in downtown Modesto, the 911 center's home since 1978. Service won't be interrupted.
