For those travelling from London for Makems game

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Unofficial Newcastle United Football Club BBS : One Thread

You probably know this but there are a canny few Makems who travel up to London for games...I've seen them if we've been playing on a different day and when they were in the First Division. They kept up a fairly constant conversation about us, none of it that pleasant. Obviously there'll be a few of them when we go up. Those of you who just don't want to be anywhere near a Makem may want to give a thought to when you book your train tickets. I'm coming up on the Friday.

Yep, Gav - I meant London to Newcastle. Example of conversation: One sees my NUFC pin. "Ah, I see there's a Skunk on here" "Scum won't need to get this train when they are playing Wigan in the second division" "Aye - they won't need the big ground when they are playing Oxford United again" They kept this up all the way to Newcastle.

>>>>>playing Wigan in the second division

That wouldn't phase me one iota. Especially coming from supporters of a club which has hardly ever played in the Premiership, and was gloriously taken down to the third division by one of the greatest living Geordies McMenemy. (-;

NUFC is, of course, the ONLY team in the North East which has NEVER been as low as the third tier in English football and the only one to have won a European title.

It's a pity that you couldn't get on with them on the train though. I always had a bit of friendly banter with supporters of small clubs when I was travelling to games on the train. (-;

Dougal - don't worry pet. You and Gav won't be the only Toon supporting Gerodies coming up for the game. Methinks there might be a few more of us than them.

Gav - make sure they're over-ripe bananas.

Screach - oh aye, the LondonMags will be there and that's a canny few people. I mainly said it for people who just don't want to go near a Makem on that day. They disturb my karma at the best of times. One thing though, they are being so cocky about beating us that they have to be about due a fall.
