BBS issues

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Unofficial Newcastle United Football Club BBS : One Thread

All

I know folk have been suffering from intermittant service over the last few days. The update to the systems seem to have caused a few short term problems; the main access problem appears to be with routing. Previously access was gained from http://greenspun.com/bboard/, and should now be http://www.greenspun.com/bboard.

It looks like the automatic mapping to handle that change wasn't done properly. Sorted now though.

As further reassurance, the occasional downtime we have here is *always* due to the service being moved onto bigger and better hardware, and nothing sinister.

Lovely - seems to be working fine again now. Many thanks Dunx. It's a lifeline for some of us....

Sometimes I still cannot open the site up and judging by the lack of postings on here, a few others are struggling too. This is the first time in about 8-9 attempts that the site has opened.

Many thanks for getting the BBS going again. Just in time for Bradford tomorrow night.

can this evening Clarky....but resorted to a rum or two after the wife is in a major stress

Spurs three nowt down at home to Birmingham..... have to sympathise and am trying not to smirk. However I know what she feels like and with our lot and Collymore and carbone as erratic and unpredictable as they are...

However the difference is our lads, IMHO actually look as though they really want to play for Bobby. As I said on another thread I'm actually quite upbeat

31 Oct (22:15)

This is still not functioning correctly - still very difficult to access, and generally takes for ever to change page/post etc.
Good to see it back however.

Pass on my condolensces to Tracey, Pete - actually, I know they pulled back one goal, but I don't know the final score. They may have won for all I know!!
Did you see that report on Teamtalk that BR is interested in signing Stephen Carr for B#5mm? Bet that would thrill Tracey!

Well, at least I know what caad torkey must be like. I've been suffering withrawal symptoms in my greatest time of need, seeing as I'm deserting this isle for 4 weeks after the Ipswich match.

Unlike some of you, I haven't been able to access the BBS since it went tits up on Saturday. Some of this was outside the Greenspun empire and to do with "another large computer organisation".

Cruel cruel timing, left to stew (?) alone after the Wham concert.

BTW Screacher: Cruel cruel timing, left to stew

What has been left to my Strawberry persona? .....I don't understand!

Thanks for keeping us up to date Duncan - your efforts are appreciated.

I am still having problems getting on the BBS (Shih-Tzu Talkshop too), though overseas posters seem to be having less of a problem.

Touch wood - I got on here first time this morning. (:o)

Umm. There've been some wider scale problems with the UK network at large, causing a general issues for many folk accessing non-UK sites from the UK. This is naturally dependent on the ISP/backbone provider.

Clarky, you seem to be having specific issues; can you tell me who your ISP is, and I'll see if it's them.
