Has everyone been washed away?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Unofficial Newcastle United Football Club BBS : One Thread

I see there's only Galaxy around (morning hope you're okay down there). So come on where are the rest of you? Sleeping it off? Trying to stay dry? I mean it's Monday morning, you can't all be working.

I'm free! And at last Italy is dry.

But had a number of problems accessing the BBS. Finally achieved via Toonworld.

But unfeasibly distressed about recent Toon results. Anyone remember the last time we won in the league?

Middlesbro away but the worrying thing is that we've lost 3 games 0-1 which we should have at least got a point from or possibly won. We're certainly 3 points lower than we should be, as Rik said on another thread Robson's got the defence sorted now how's about reminding them on how to score goals.

Morning Kegsy - I guess windswept and waterlogged would just about sum up my condition!!!

Touch wood (and there`s lots of that around this morning), we survived the night unscyathed. Lost a few fence panels, and the lamppost off our drive, lots of debris in the garden, but no structural damage to the house, and we are one of the few places in the South who still have power! Most unusual, we`re usually first to lose it - however, if I suddenly stop posting, you`ll know what it is!

I`m breathing a sigh of relief that we had the foresight to dismantle two big wooden swings, which sit right infront of our patio windows, or else I suspect they would have been in the lounge this morning.

I was also very pleased when Yelli got home last night as I was very worried about her driving in these conditions. Even more relieved when I heard that two cars had been literally blown over on the M27 - part of her route last night!

Apart from that, it`s been pretty quiet round here.

BBs is a bit of a worry though - practically impossible to get on it over the weekend. I know they have been doing some work on it, but it is a little worrysome. However, I guess by now, everyone has everyone else`s e mail addresses, so it wouldn`t be such a disaster as last time! (:o)

It's good to hear that you're okay and that everything is as well as you can hope for. I remember when I was about 10 years old and the wind blowing part of a fence through our window, in fact that's not something you forget in a hurry as I was sat about 3 m away from the window at the time.

As I said before when this place goes belly up everyone is welcome to use the Gallowgate especially over week ends and during matches. I avoided here on Saturday as I was fortunate (well that's what I thought at first) to be able to watch the game on delay in Japan. I've seen us play 5 times this season which I think is a record yet I've only seen the one win and then I already knew the result. Maybe I'm the jinx!

Pleased everything is OK down Chez Galaxy.
We're unscathed, if very wet, up here - in fact it was sunny until about 3pm yesterday.
This kind of weather scares me rigid as our house is surrounded by massive old trees, and if one on them ever came down I feel certain it would take a good piece of the house down with it. It's especially worrying when the trees are still in leaf.
A tree a little further up the street did come down a couple of years ago - but fell very conveniently perfectly parallel with the road - which was very kind of it!!

Good to hear everyone surviving the weather. Sounds a bit scary. Nothing so dramatic here. More like drought. I'm still running around between dr/phys therapy appts and job interviews so not around much, cause in between I'm still attempting to get my boxes unpacked. :-)

Still cranky about this streak of losses and at a complete loss to figure out what can be done. But that's what Bobby's paid for, so hopefully he'll figure it out soon. Though I imagine he's gotta be wondering what to do to get goals too.

It absolutely p*ssed down in Staffordshire for most of last night and I had to drive to work this morning on the pavement in places! It snowed for an hour from about 7.30 and all the fields around my school are underwater.

Glad you lot have all survived. I wish I was in the Toon with you Rik!!

Just watched the 10 o`clock news - seems like chaos countrywide. Hope everybody`s OK. Winter woollies and wellies, and dark dank nights - yuk! Somebody remind me why we change the clock and plunge ourselves into winter every year.

I asked this somewhere else, and didn`t get a reply (maybe it was considered just too dumb) but humour me.......can weather have an affect on the internet? I`m asking because people overseas seem to be having less trouble getting onto the BBS than UK based folk. If say telephone lines are brought down, will it automatically find another route, or can there be actual breaks in the route?

I know, I know.......cyberplank strikes again!!! (:o)

Our local stream decided to take a new course on Monday morning. One of my neighbours had a lovely water feature (a bit like Niagra) in their back garden yesterday but obviously they didn't like it as they seem to have removed it today. The canal at the bottom of my garden was about 0.3 metres above it's normal level - and it usually never changes. It all my fault folks - we decided to repair some storm damage on our unmade road on Saturday. Are we bliddy stupid, or what? Don't bother replying to that - I know the answer already.
