Ever been thrown off a board

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Gwen's Trailer Trash Forum : One Thread

If so, what did you do or say that was offensive to the other posters and did you get any warnings? You don't have to name the boards but can if you want too.

I've gotta quit readimg this board late at nite. I thought you asked if I'd ever been thrown off a BROAD. But to answer your question...not yet. But I try to restrict my comments to the nice, the funny, or the profane, without offending.

No, I've never been thrown off, but my favorite celeb board just got shut down because of someone cussing us out (I think.) True to this guy's laid back nature, it was shut down a week after the incident, but a new one is up today. The moderator said they were getting their "hands slapped."

Thrown off a broad? Nice one, Bubba! hee hee

I don't remember ever being thrown off a board, but I've been thrown out of IRC groups zillions of times. I used to have this sick hobby. I'd go to certain fetish boards and start off acting like everyone else. But then I'd start saying silly things until I got kicked off. I don't know why I used to do that.

That may be a topic for another day Bubba. Since I started this in the middle of the night I may have very well typed broad (so glad I didn't). So, when was the last time you were thrown off a broad Bubba? I would have answered sooner but haven't been able to get into the forums the past few days.

Gwen, when my friend Jen and I were younger (like, five years ago), we'd go into IRC channels -- like #peesex -- and start acting like we were cybersexing each other in the channel. But we'd get sick of it because no one would kick us, even though we were being really over- the-top and vulgar. Damn them!

And if we were REALLY bored, we'd go in #new2irc or #newbies and ask stupid questions, like, 'How do I make my words appear on the screen?!? HELLO!!' and these really patient, selfless souls would try to talk us through how to type and press return. That was kinda sad.

I'm either showing my age or my ignorance here, but what is an IRC Board?

-- Anonymous, November 01, 2000

IRC stands for 'Internet Relay Chat,' and it's basically a bunch of channels (don't call them 'chatrooms,' whatever you do) hosted on hundreds of different servers and several different networks. You can download mIRC for free -- it's very easy to use. IRC can be equal parts fun, frustrating and totally lame -- usually simultaneously.

Jackie, it's so good to know that I'm not the only one who would do that. Sometimes Paul would join me, but usually he was too mature. And the help channel stuff sounds hilarious.

There are a couple of STUPID freaking channels devoted to a practice they call Gor. It's like male-dom/fem-sub, but it's actually based on some old sci-fantasy novels about the planet Gor, on which women are slaves. It was so fucking stupid. I couldn't stand not to mess with those people.

Once, I got kicked from #trivia on EFnet (before EFnet was all but destroyed by 3r33t h4x0r5 running DOS attacks) for cussing out the bot. #trivia has a bot in it that asks trivia questions, and then whoever answers first gets this big, 'Good job, della_femina!' or whatever from the bot. Except I was always lagged to the bot and CONVINCED that I'd given the correct answer before anyone else, but was consistently robbed of my glory by network lag.

Playing Truth or Dare in a channel is also amusing (er, somewhat). In a channel I used to hang out in regularly about four or five years ago, I was playing Truth or Dare with my friend Jen and some guy called Matt. No one in the channel knew that the three of us were in another channel (I think we called it #tod) giving each other dares and shit. So I dared Matt to fake an orgasm on the channel, being as explicit and disgusting as possible (i.e. describe the effect his activities had on the cleanliness of his keyboard and monitor). I do remember nearly pissing myself with laughter that day.

I can't believe I'm talking about this shit.

I can't believe you are, either. You're gross. Just kidding. But, hey, I used to play Truth or Dare on IRC four or five years ago, too! Sometimes.

-- Anonymous, November 01, 2000

I think I remember you, Gwen! You were the one who admitted to being in love with me. We haven't talked much since I moved out of the country to get away from you, so...How's it hangin'?

-- Anonymous, November 01, 2000

Got thrown off for my politics. Wasn't mean or anything. Pure censorship! No warning either.

-- Anonymous, November 01, 2000

Pretty good. I'm 96% over you now. It's just... it's just... what you admitted about the nastiest thing you ever did with your Barbie dolls -- dude, how could I not wanna stalk you after that?

i was thrown off a diving bored once!! does that count???

-- Anonymous, November 01, 2000

floosie, everything counts for you. I just hope there was water in the pool!

yes I got thrown off a board for asking someone the same question twice, some bitch said I was boring, so I posted back that boring was subjective, and the net is free speech, and I don't go around judging the content of other people's posts. That's the point of a board - to be able to be communicative. And she emailed my private account saying that I was boring so I posted a copy of her email for the whole board to see what she was doing. I also emailed her privately replying "don't email my private account - that's for friends and family - say what you want to say on the board" So she reported me to hotmail and had my account closed! I got no warnings. I don't know, I am such a mellow person, but I always seem to be getting into fights - with mother in law, on the net, old friends. Maybe I am a stiff bitch! Oh well, i don't really care. Mother-in - law such a cliche case - "you're not good enough for my son" etc, when I come from a really cool academic/legal/arts background, she doesn't even know what she's talking about. we were living there and she just kicked me out last night, accusing my family of prank calling her. she's demented. They would not be bothered, but my Mum just put a pond in the garden and named it after the mother-in-law!!!!! That beats prank calling any day.

anyone who plays Baldur's Gate II, or D and D, would agree that I am lawful chaotic good.

naw actually just reading that I sound quite aggressive. Maybe I should move back to the country.

-- Anonymous, November 02, 2000

You sound slightly overwrought, but I'd never boot you for that.

-- Anonymous, November 02, 2000

"Thrown off a board?" No, but I've been made to walk the plank. :-)

*ducks*

Probably for leering at the Captains wench.

Wenches rule.

I once got kicked out of this crappy Xoom chatroom (that counts, right) jsut because of my age. I guess I was like, 11 and I was in the Women's Chat because I hated the kids and teens chats because all the people in there were messed up/horny. So when one of the moderators found out I was 11, they just banned my ISP #. Damn them to hell! Oh well, I got my brother to get those losers back good. Mwahahaha!
