A power outage that affected a small number of PG&E customers could have been the cause of a downtown Santa Rosa traffic snarl during the Friday rush-hour.

PG&E spokesman Jonathan Franks said an equipment problem knocked out power to 130 Santa Rosa customers from about 1:30 p.m. to 5 p.m.

He said the power outage could have also affected the city stoplights.

A Santa Rosa police dispatcher said a number of drivers reported a large traffic jam downtown because of darkened stoplights on Mendocino Avenue.

About 6,000 customers were left to wake up without an alarm because of a larger power outage Friday morning in northern Santa Rosa and Windsor, Franks said. That problem was resolved by 7:15 a.m.
