Thats exactly the team i wud go for RIk, no doubt about it. Sweeper role would be perfect for Lee as it wont be quite as strenuous as central midfield....he was fantatsic today, espec 1st half. Sublime ball control and passing.

Rik,

There are some potential weaknesses in your selection. The most obvious for me is Solano at RB - IMO he would be a liability playing RB in 4-4-2. Neither he or Domi are FB's IMO, but are perfect to play WB in 3-5-2.
Based on spud's report and 15 minutes on MOTD, Acuna looked mobile and useful in central m/f. If he could play the holding role, this could release Rob Lee to have a run at the sweeper's position where his organisational and passing ability and reading of the game could prove invaluable.
We now have to see Bassedas play to assess his overall capabilities. However, the major dilemma at the Club is Kieron Dyer who is simply not developing in line with his natural ability - for whatever reason - and is barely justifying his place in the side right now. He should be providing most of creativity going forward, but seems to lack judgement as to when to run and when to pass, and disappears far too easily.

ey? im getting mixed up...when i looked at Riks team last night i thought it was 3-5-2 Domi/Solano wingbacks- must be the weather!

Ok Ok I admit it, my team formation wasn't as I envisidged so I changed it a bit. It should have been kind of a 5 - 3 - 2 With Hughes and Goma as etre backs, infront of them Acuna OR Lee. Solano and Griff as wing backs, with Bassedas, in the middle, Dyer and Glass Wide right and Shearer plus anne other upfront.

The point is I think that the 'Old Boys' are too slow and safe. I wouldn't be playing Barton, Lee and Speed in the same team if theier are more creative players available. Yes we need the steady types but we need invention and width as well.

Anne Other would make an excellent partner for AS - but I suspect his wife might not be too happy about it.

I like rob lee but he is not a sweeper. He lacks pace and height and will skinned by a bigger and faster center forward. West ham made him look good, put him up against Hasselbaink or heskey and he is toast.
