There's nearsightedness, farsightedness and short-sightedness, Lars. Those who think as you on this issue I apply the last of those three afflictions. Stodginess might apply as well. :)

There are those who see the likeliest road to political change as that which runs within the present two-party dominated system. Others see little hope of change until the democrat/republican liplock is broken.

I am of the latter group. I'll accept the possibility of temporary (a few decades) political instability if it means a significant chance at eventual progress on a scale which changes the political process AND as a byproduct how people regard government and its role.
