The Raven inspired by Emerson's "The Poet"?

Had a thought. Emerson's "The Poet" was written in 1844. The Raven in 1845. In two other artciles Poe slams the transcendentalists. Could The Raven have been originally intended as an ironic reply by the hedonistic Poe to Emerson's request for a Poet who "drink water out of a wooden bowl"?
