72,000 customers lose power in San Francisco

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Grassroots Information Coordination Center (GICC) : One Thread

Franks traced the problem to a blown transformer bank
in the Potrero substation. The failure there caused
substations in the other areas to stop pumping out
power.

Technicians were able to switch around the blown
transformer to restore power, Franks said. But the
reason for the failure was not immediately known.
