Your DVD player should allready be a region 2 player, i have a phillips 711 too and its on region 2 when i bought it. If you want to play multi-region disks on you can find a code on the internet that will make your DVD player play any region DVD disk without having to change the code over and over again, sorry i dont know the internet sight to find it yet, i'm looking for it right now. check out the site http://www.uk-dvd.net/

they listed this answer (use this at your own risk): Philips DVD-711

Note this region crack will work for a maximum number of 25 times!

To convert this player for Region 1 playback:

Press the buttons Play, 1, 5 and 9 on the players Remote Control. The on-screen display should look like this: '____ ____'.

Using the number keys on your remote control, enter the code 008000 000 000. Press the Play button on the remote control.

The on-screen display should change to red, indicating that your region settings have been changed.

To convert the player to Region 2 playback:

Press the buttons Play, 1, 5 and 9 on the players Remote Control. The on-screen display should look like this: '____ ____'.

Using the number keys on your remote control, enter the code 002000 000 000.

Press the Play button on the remote control.

The on-screen display should change to red, indicating that your region settings have been changed.

Problems:

Limited to 25 changes although you may be able to perform more changes than this on machines running older firmware. Report any issues via the contact page.

Feedback from site visitors:

Jason Odewahn reports that to change the player to play Region 4 discs you need to 'change the number to a 7'. I therefore assume by this that he means the code you type in would be: 007000 000 000.

If you want to make it all region full life time with no problem with 25 times you can find the answer here http://www.dvd-technology.co.uk/philipsunihack.htm You'll need a One For All remote.
