What formats does the apex dvd support for movies. I am aware of at least four different movie formats available on a computer. I think it supports mpeg is that correct? does it support mp4?

If you are refering to mpeg4 formats, this is really a compression codec that allows one to fit a full length DVD to a single cdr that is playable in a dvd-rom (i.e. PC) only. Its really known as a back up procedure for dvd and I don't believe any commercial standalone DVD players can recognize it.

The Apex 600 will play DVDs, VCDs, SVCDs and MP3s.

But will the 600 play DVD-R's, Doug reports elsewhere here, that the DVD-R stumped it.

Thought all DVD players played DVD but how many will play DVD-R or RW?

Apex 600 won't play DVD-R. But you can play them on APEX 660 and 1500.
